Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

FloQast has developed a platform that enables developers to quickly get applications running in production. We are looking to extend this to make observability/monitoring/logging as accessible to developers as possible. FloQast is looking to bring a “You build it, you run it” mantra to our engineering team, but need to ensure that we give developers all the tools they need to be able to successfully monitor their applications in production. The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will design, implement, and be the driver-focused on improving our observability footprint. FloQast is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA and we are seeking US Based REMOTE Engineers. *Visa sponsorship is NOT available at this time

What You'll Do:

• Work with Architecture and Engineering teams to identify gaps in our current monitoring strategy.
• Work with Product and Engineering to determine SLO/SLA/SLI’s for our various services.
• Examine logs from FloQast’s different systems (CloudWatch, Grafana, X-Ray, Loggly, etc) and create a plan to eliminate false alerting and noise.
• Create solutions for end-to-end application monitoring.
• Production operations.
• Any other projects as assigned to help the Company meet its goals.

What You'll Bring:

• 5+ years of Production SRE experience including systems administration, software development, and cloud-based application management.
• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining production systems within the AWS ecosystem using VPC, ECS, EC2, S3, ELB/ALB, IAM, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
• Strong experience with monitoring, metrics, and visualization tools (e.g CloudWatch, Grafana, etc.)
• Understanding of infrastructure security, scaling, failover, load balancing, etc.
• Infrastructure automation tools experience (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer, SaltStack, etc.)
• Strong scripting experience preferably Python or Shell.
• Effective collaboration and documentation skills.
• BS in Computer Science or related field.
• Work Experience and/or AWS certification may be considered in lieu of a Degree.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with AWS Lambda.
• Experience with log aggregation strategies.
• Experience with NoSQL (MongoDb, DynamoDB) and SQL (PostgreSQL and MySQL) databases.
• Experience with Linux administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning & security.
• Experience with CI/CD systems (preferably Jenkins and experience with pipelines)AWS Certification.
• Familiarity with security best practices.
