The Role: Xylem is seeking candidates with interests in managing multiple highly technical teams that support both public cloud applications and private cloud data centers. As a member of the Data Center Operations team, you will be responsible for a team that provides support to peer teams that utilize our public cloud hosted providers such as AWS and Azure. You will also manage a team that supports Linux servers in both public and private cloud data centers. In this role, you will have opportunities to continue the push towards Infrastructure as Code and utilize a wide range of common tools to support environments through automation including Terraform and Ansible. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment, while ensuring initiatives are met. Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage team responsible for public cloud operations
  • Manage team of Linux engineers that support both public and private cloud environments
  • Manage team workflows using agile concepts for scrum and sprints
  • Maintain high availability and elasticity requirements in public cloud environments when required by applications
  • Understand and manage disaster recovery operations including and documentation including DR drills
  • Manages vendor relationship as needed to maintain support contracts, purchasing of required software and hardware and roadmaps for advances in technologies
  • Collaborate with peers in other departments to resolve problems
  • Work closely with security operations to maintain proper security posture for supported environments and applications
  • Travel periodically to work with customers
  • Travel periodically to work in private cloud data centers
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (or similar), or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree in computer science (or similar), or equivalent experience is preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience with AWS or similar cloud provider
  • Experience supporting production workloads in a Linux environment
  • Experience supporting production workloads in a Windows environment
  • Experience with monitoring tools Datadog, Nagios, or a similar tool
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar technologies in a production environment is required
  • Experience with Git based source control tools
  • Experience using common Microsoft Office tools to review, create and update reports
  • Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Service) and similar cloud providers like Azure is required
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab or Bitbucket Pipelines is preferred
  • Experience with configuration tools such as Ansible or Terraform is preferred
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or a similar language is preferred
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar technologies in a production environment is preferred
  • Experience managing Jira Projects and scrum boards is preferred
  • Red Hat certification(s) are preferred.
  • AWS Architect Associate certification or higher (or Azure equivalent) is preferred
  • Previous experience supporting and maintaining enterprise-grade operational applications such as Red Hat Satellite Server, Ansible AWX / Tower, and Red Hat Directory Services is preferred

Further, if the Company determines this role may be performed in or from Colorado, the salary range is $144,000 - $205,000 plus bonus. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors such as location, qualifications, certifications, relevant work experience and other factors, consistent with applicable law. We offer a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
