Providence is seeking a Senior Product Designer II to join one of our locations in Washington, Oregon, California, or Texas.

The Digital Innovation Group (DIG) at Providence is a small but mighty product development and incubation team. We build next-gen tools that give patients convenient and easy access to health care anywhere, anytime.

DIG is both a healthcare startup and a technology/product incubator. Our team gathers market data in the health care space and creates products with the latest and greatest technology. When market maturity hits, DIG enables the product to spin out as its own company. It is a unique mix of venture capitalists, digital strategists, marketing insight, product development, and engineering all in one group, nestled inside one of the largest health systems. We set the pace for organizations that conceive, engineer, and launch health care products and services. Recently funded DIG startups include DexCare and Xealth .

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer II who will be responsible for ownership of a project or a significant product release.

The Senior Product Designer II will have the following responsibilities:

BUSINESS ACUMEN:

  • Design and guide the exploration of the range of possibilities for the aesthetic vision for the product/service.
  • Lead the execution, quality control, and measurement of aesthetics.

AESTHETICS:

  • Define one or more dimensions of the aesthetic vision, overall page composition, color and font treatments, chrome elements, motion, and auditory concepts.
  • Design, explore and reinforce feature area implementation of product brand principles and guidelines.

HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION AND INSIGHTS:

  • Establish and direct overall product composition, page flow, and the visual/sensory framework.
  • Optimize navigation concepts and selection models within the product for fit within the product line with no conflict.
  • Reinforce and ensure consistent product-level conceptual models.
  • Ensure that the target end-user needs and aspirations are a top priority for design-related decisions.
  • Identify design solutions in response to latent or anticipated socio-cultural trends.

PROTOTYPING:

  • Use prototypes to communicate product-line concepts, narratives, and experience value propositions.
  • UCD BEST PRACTICES:
  • Lead design process, tool, or methodology improvements over successive releases to improve quality and alignment to engineering processes.
  • Lead a process of continuous improvement for product/service designs and experiences through successive iterations, based on a cycle of human-centered insight, design, and testing.

PROJECT / TEAM MANAGEMENT I:

  • Work with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
  • Find ways to accomplish more by enabling others.
  • Overcome obstacles by resolving issues, regardless of team boundaries, and identifies and resolves teamwork issues.
  • Engage and maintain consistent communication with all relevant parties until issues are resolved.
  • Promote a positive team environment by modeling behavior that promotes good morale.

BREADTH/DEPTH of PRODUCT OWNERSHIP:

  • Present work to senior leaders across the organization, including objects, strategy, and creative executions under the direction of the UX Director.
  • Build plans that consider potential obstacles and immediate and long-term consequences.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human-Center Design or equivalent education/experience
  • 7 years related experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience with chatbot design, conversational design, VUI design, or a strong interest in developing those skills
  • Experience with Figma, Sketch, InVision or similar visual design tools
  • Functional prototyping abilities
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to emerging design tools and concepts
  • Healthcare or regulated environment experience
