This role sits in Visa’s North America Controllership team, which is responsible for the accounting and finance operations of the North America corporate accounting activities for Visa. The team is part of the broader Global Controllership function within Global Finance. This role will report to a Senior Manager with the Foster City, California, United States based team and will be responsible for Lease Accounting, Intercompany activities and Corporate Services accounting activities for North America including month-end close, analytical review, and research of technical and operational accounting issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of US GAAP, the ability to implement processes to improve operational efficiency, work with cross-functional teams, and the ability to communicate financial and accounting concepts to business stakeholders, all with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
Essential Functions
Basic Qualifications
• 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD) in Accounting or related field
Preferred Qualifications
• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
• CPA equivalent with clear progressive professional accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded company and/or with a public accounting firm
• Strong accounting, quantitative and analytical skills, and ability to accurately apply key U.S. GAAP to different business situations. Lease and Intercompany accounting experience is a plus
• Proficient with Oracle or similar enterprise accounting system and proficient in utilizing Excel to efficiently analyze data. Proficiency with CoStar Lease Accounting software is a plus
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, with expectation of increasing responsibility and scope over time as proficiency in position develops
• Familiarity with the importance of Sarbanes-Oxley and internal control compliance
• Project credibility and knowledge of business acumen and ability to define/solve end-to-end problems and issues
• Strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills. Must have strong attention to detail and
accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written, oral, listening and presentation skills. Ability to work well under pressure and interact at all levels
• Capable of handling multiple tasks, possess good organizational and analytical skills, able to work independently, and be extremely flexible
• Welcomes challenging/complex projects and demonstrates an ability for working "smarter not harder" by making continuous improvement to the efficiency of processes
• Teamwork is essential to the group, so it is critical that the candidate interact with other team members and managers collaboratively and effectively
