As a Supply Chain Planner, you will coordinate and communicate the full spectrum of the Materials Plan in an engineering and development manufacturing environment. This role is chartered with end-to-end demand/supply management for their assigned programs/projects. This person will be the single point of contact from a scheduling and supply continuity communication perspective, with the role’s main customers being internal engineering and program managers. This position will also interface closely with the Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Teams as materials suppliers and vendors are selected and on-boarded. Success in this position is having complete knowledge of, and direct influence upon, the materials schedule against the program deadlines with intimate knowledge of on-hand and in-bound inventory with supply gaps and associated closure actions quickly identified. As needed, this role will also support the MPS (Master Production Schedule) process as it relates to the coordination of materials to support internal and external build plans. Ideal candidates will be able to operate effectively in an ambiguous environment where we have a mix of R&D and steady-state production programs running in parallel.
Job Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the materials plan, story, and gap closure actions for your respective programs
- Understand and evaluate all aspects of BOM, MRP, & MPS in support of detailed Demand Planning activities for smooth execution through the supply chain.
- Interface daily with factory production control, engineering, program management, procurement, and outside contract manufacturers to determine and resolve materials needs, changes, and gaps.
- Expedite, de-expedite, and re-plan to meet changing requirements of raw stock, manufactured sub-assemblies purchased parts, and outside services to satisfy customer needs and minimize inventory risk.
- Remain knowledgeable of the capacities and capabilities of internal and external manufacturing sites.
- Work closely with engineering and program management teams to understand manufacturing and material-related aspects of the builds.
- Continual review & reconciliation of bills of materials, item attributes, material routings to ensure demand and supply accuracy and efficiency, with the expectation of a high change order volume given the engineering development environment
- Work with Purchasing and Supplier Quality to improve the performance of vendors.
Requirements
- A high degree of initiative and ownership, attention to detail, and the discipline to follow through on assigned tasks
- 2+ years experience in Supply Chain Management roles within an engineering and manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge, understanding, and practice of MRP / MPS / Clear-to-Build principles.
- Experience working with outside contract manufacturers and materials suppliers
- Experience in ERP systems, Oracle preferred.
- Continuous Improvement and Process Implementation experience (DMAIC, Lean Mfg., Kaizen)
- Knowledge and understanding of inventory management techniques including Just In Time, VMI, and KANBAN in support of an engineer to order manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated data analysis capabilities and outcomes
- Possess a working knowledge of manufacturing principles, particularly in heavy NPI/Development and pre-production environments
- Strong influence skills – experience working in a matrix organization, influencing without direct authority
- Experienced in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for management reporting and presentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- US government position. US Citizenship required.

- Specific experience planning within R&D environments
- Strong teamwork skills are required to work effectively in a team environment and establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external supply chain partners.
- Ability to develop solutions to a variety of problems inside and outside of their immediate functional group
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience developing advanced planning and analysis tools using Excel, Tableau, etc.
