We are seeking a UX Researcher to join our growing team. You will run user research projects that influence our product strategy and make a meaningful, direct impact on our customers and their financial wellness. Your area of focus will be research in support of our new product developments, running these research projects from beginning to end with the direction and guidance from the Manager of UX Research.

The position sits within the Acorns Research and Insights team, a group with broad experience and influence, focused on bringing the customer voice into the heart of everything we do. This role has the option to be remote or based in our Irvine or New York offices.

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Get a warm welcome and learn about the Acorns financial wellness system and our culture
  • Build relationships with the Research and Insights team and your key stakeholders, partners and vendors
  • Familiarize yourself with insights from our existing user research programs
  • Jump in and get started on your first research project at Acorns

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Run end-to-end user research projects, from scoping to conducting to uncovering the insights and helping our Product teams define the next steps
  • Oversee relationships with UX research vendors and identify a pipeline of new innovative vendors to consider
  • Establish a new feature evaluation process and formalize our beta testing program
  • Identify and drive efficiencies in the UX research team

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Become Acorns’ go to in running end-to-end research in support of our new product developments, including foundational, iterative, and evaluative research
  • Embrace Acorns culture of experimentation and bring that innovation mindset to your research, from new vendors to interventions to projective techniques in research studies
  • Develop deep relationship with product, supporting with onboarding, training and monthly share outs
  • Create programs to share insights across Leadership, Product, Design and wider employees at Acorns so everyone has access to the latest insights

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Have made a meaningful and measured impact on Acorns product and feature releases
  • Be identifying new exciting research opportunities that we should go after and presenting these in compelling ways to leadership to get buy-in
  • Be growing in your role, honing your skills and pushing forwarded the whole Research and Insights team with new opportunities

What you will bring to Acorns:

  • 2-4 years of experience in user research, both qualitative and quantitative
  • Experience in executing a variety of research methodologies, including field studies, semi-structured interviews, diary studies, usability studies, surveys, focus groups, card sorting and benchmarking
  • Experience of research with parents and kids a big plus
  • Enjoy owning the end-to-end research project, from scoping to recruitment to analysis and the final deliverable
  • Familiar with user research tools and passionate about learning new ones
  • Strong communicator, self-starter, strategic thinker, and capable of working in a fast-paced, matrixed corporate environment
  • Driven to learn fast, be creative, and win as a team
