Why GBSD? The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program is an enormous and complex “Mega-Project” modernizing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without any doubt, GBSD is one of the DoD’s most important acquisition efforts for the next decade, if not longer. It includes a complete refurbishment of hundreds of aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly designed, technologically advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command and control system as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the decades ahead. GBSD is the Department of Defense’s newest official “program of record,” having just achieved Milestone B. It enjoys broad, strong support at the national level. It is a long-term project -- the weapon system will deploy over a nine-year period beginning in approximately 2026, and remain operational until at least 2075. GBSD is a career-defining program that will present unique and challenging opportunities that simply are not available with smaller projects.
Tell me about this job. Candidate will work with a highly skilled team providing critical program management, technical, and business analysis on the Ground Base Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) providing recommendations to ensure program success. This position will support Stakeholders and Mission Partner team activities/engagements, track and assess program status, technical performance, contract performance, schedule, and risk. Candidate will operate in an organizational culture that develops and challenges employees to achieve high performance in a fast-paced, high-morale workplace using streamlined management policies and procedures. Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• 10+ years (8+ with Master's degree) experience in project/program management
• 7+ years acquisition experience in the DoD Acquisition Workforce
• DAWIA Level II in Program Management
• At least 4 years’ experience in a program office
• Strong communication skills; experience organizing and conducting senior level meetings and briefings
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Must have current Secret security clearance (adjudicated within the past 6 years) or higher and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and all required Special Program accesses

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Experience in DoD ACAT ID program
• ICBM weapon system/program support experience
• At least 4 years’ experience in a program office executing program(s) in Engineering and Manufacturing Development or similar program phase
• Project development, implementation, and monitoring
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Strategic thinking skills
• Project Management Professional certification
• Commanders' Action Group/executive officer experience at any level
