What is the opportunity?

Associates in RBC’s Power, Utility & Infrastructure (“PU&I”) group play a critical role in the successful origination and execution of transactions for our clients. The group offers significant client exposure early on, as well as close mentorship and guidance from senior bankers.

Analysts work across the entire spectrum of subverticals in the space, including but not limited to:

• Energy Transition (ex. wind, solar, battery storage, EV’s, and other emerging technologies)
• Utilities (ex. Regulated water, gas, electric, district energy)
• Transportation Infrastructure (ex. Core and tech-enabled)

As a full service investment bank, the group is very active across all product types and works with product specialists to deliver the firms complete capabilities to our clients across:

• Mergers, Acquisitions and Strategic Advisory
• Equity Capital Markets
• Debt Capital Markets
• Leveraged Finance
• Private Capital
• Project Finance
• Risk Solutions (hedging rates, FX and commodities)

What will you do?

• Support the execution of a broad array of transaction types in multiple subverticals
• Conduct analytical, due diligence and transactional support on strategic assignments and financings for our client base
• Develop financial models and pitch book materials, conduct company research and analyze data to advise our corporate and sponsor clients on mergers & acquisition transactions and corporate finance offerings
• Analyze historical financials and diligence future projections
• Develop expertise in the industries we cover and develop perspectives on the key trends and drives for those industries
• Mentor and develop junior bankers
• Other such duties, responsibilities and authority as may be reasonably required

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

• BA or equivalent with emphasis in finance/accounting
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Ability to conduct independent research on industry and company trends and the market and competitive landscape our clients operate in
• Familiar with computer applications such as MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
• Previous experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Development, Private Equity, Accounting or other similar field is required

Nice to Have

• Previous experience with the Power & Utilities industry
