Collins Aerospace is looking for Senior Repair Engineer, Aftermarket professional with knowledge and developed technical expertise. You will design and approve repairs and Allowable Damage Limits across multiple programs in a highly customer focused environment. You will also have direct contact with customers to strategize enhancements to Structural Repair Manuals across multiple platforms.

Position is currently working remotely. May need to work onsite in a hybrid capacity when circumstances permit.

Primary responsibilities

  • Individual contributor who may lead a small technical project and help mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Teach others how to use/apply engineering tools/practices.
  • Guide and mentor others in repair procedures on nacelle structural hardware to substantiate Structural Repair Manuals (SRM) repairs and allowable damage.
  • Work with production engineering to understand design changes and evaluate impact to structure maintainability, repairability, and maintenance manuals (CMM, SRM, AMM).
  • Work with engine manufacturers and airframers to support complex technical issues requiring creativity and ingenuity in expanding product repairs and allowable damage limits.
  • Prepare Repair package to support SRM/CMM repair development for submission to the Type Certificate holder.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • Experience in development of repairs for aircraft metallic and/or composite structures.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry
  • Able to communicate findings and make presentations to the original equipment manufacturers (OEM)
  • Experience with modeling software
  • Possess excellent technical writing and PC skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management personnel and capable of positively interacting in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • CATIA V5 experience
  • Continuous Improvement Tool(s) experience i.e. Lean, Six Sigma or ACE
  • Experience FiberSim, Arbortext Isodraw, and Corena
  • Familiarity with nacelle systems
