Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of experience in a procurement

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or other advanced degree in Engineering
  • 4 years of experience managing a global team in a fast-paced environment to source and launch complex cutting edge hardware products
  • Experience influencing and working cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Legal, and Operations teams
  • Experience with supply chain in one or more of the following commodities: Imaging module, Image Sensor, Lens, Voice Coil Actuator/Module
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes and production challenges
  • Excellent coaching, communication, leadership, strategic planning, project management, execution, and negotiation skills

About the job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.

As a Global Supply Chain Manager, you will lead a team of Global Sourcing Managers to serve as Google’s primary points of contact to internal management and external partners for all of the Devices and Services sourcing and procurement needs. You will guide your team to select strategic partners and create the optimum supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Global Sourcing Managers to develop and implement supply chain strategy, and manage and grow relationships with existing and new suppliers.
  • Represent the sourcing team in meetings with internal and external executives.
  • Conduct complex discussions with supplier executives to secure commercial master agreements to enable development and mass production.
  • Drive overall supplier relationships with Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing teams; serve as focal point for escalations.
