Roblox, Sr. Distributed Systems Engineer, Real Time Communications, San Mateo, CA

The Social Communications team enables frictionless, safe and civil communications across the Roblox Metaverse. The team is responsible for real-time communications through all mediums including text, voice and video. As a distributed systems engineer, you will build highly scalable, fault-tolerant performant distributed systems that will facilitate millions of interactions every day for a billion users.

You are:

• 5+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production
• Experience building large scale distributed fault tolerant services
• Excellent understanding of low level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale
• A solid programmer with demonstrable skills with compiled languages such as C#, Go, Java, C++, or others
• Well-versed in networking protocols (HTTP, Websockets)
• Data-driven focused on quality metrics and monitoring
• Experienced with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science or related engineering field with at least 5 years of hands-on experience

You Will:

• Build highly scalable distributed systems that facilitate millions of interactions across all experiences
• Collaborate with Roblox’s developer community to build scalable APIs that allow developers to include text and voice chat in their experiences
• Lead design and architecture discussions and mentor junior engineers
• Help recruit future talent for the team
