We challenge you to support the Philips’ MR Patient Care business as a Lead Electrical Engineer. Someone who can provide electrical engineering leadership across all aspects of products from advanced development to troubleshooting of issues in the field. This person will perform detailed design of patient monitoring assemblies, as well as generating and managing component level requirements.

The MR Patient Care Business identifies and meets customer and market needs by designing, developing, and distributing specialized MRI compatible solutions, consumables, and sensors.

You are responsible for

  • Responsible for the electrical design of future generations of MR Patient Care products
  • Connect and align with project management on project content, timeline, and costs
  • Work with systems engineering, mechanical and other cross functional team members to design electronic hardware to meet system level functional and architectural requirements.
  • As a lead electrical engineer, take ownership and drive design and development activities for circuit design, schematic capture, power budgeting, thermal management, and meeting EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Conduct concept & feasibility studies. Lead the introduction of new technologies
  • Act as electrical lead to review and provide oversight of R&D activities (i.e. internal and external support) developing products for the MRI.
  • Oversee all design and development activities of the modules and sub-systems
  • Responsible for requirements, design, implementation, test and integration of module/sub-system in accordance with the higher-level requirements and specifications
  • Drive product development activities including development of design concepts, prototype testing, engineering specs, and module/system level tests.
  • Lead design reviews, FMEA analyses, and other DfX related activities
  • Draws up personal schedule and reports on progress
  • Develop feature enhancements, generate, and document world class, innovative designs. This includes circuit design, schematic capture and creating specifications
  • Provide technical leadership in problem solving and electrical hardware design activities
  • Drive definition of electrical architecture for current and advanced development projects
  • Translate architecture specifications into usable digital engineering data/requirements applicable to the subsystem and product level.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers, interns, and co-ops

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 15 years work experience, preferably 10 years in a high-tech environment.
  • Able to make a work break down and a planning for the electrical team in the project.
  • Able to steer and supervise detailed design of electrical part of products and systems
  • Proven experience in at least one of the domains medical equipment, industrial automation and high precision mechatronics as senior electrical designer or electrical team lead
  • Experience with CE, EMC and UL regulations and more specifically with regulations for developing medical devices and equipment.
  • Experienced to work according to the V model in defining requirements, test specifications, supervising execution of the tests and reporting the test results
  • Proven team player and able to lead a team of electrical engineers in a multidisciplinary project
  • General Knowledge in the following areas:
    • Analog front ends
    • Power supplies
    • High Speed digital circuits
    • Embedded Systems
    • FPGA (Xilinx preferred) and Signal Processing
    • Engineering reliability statistics
  • Experience with design and test for EMC
  • RF design experience is a plus
  • Experience translating system and customer requirements into sub-system requirements
  • Proven ability to document engineering analysis and design decisions
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), DfX and FMEAs is preferred
  • Experience working in a regulated field, preferably medical devices
  • Proven ability with board bring up and troubleshooting activities
  • Continual improvement focused, self-directed and creative
  • Design experience with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGAs and be fully competent with simulate, synthesis, debug, and integration tools for test on hardware
  • Experience with FPGA timing closure
  • Knowledge of Matlab, embedded C programming & Simulink used for development of algorithms
  • Scripting languages such as Tcl/Tk, & Python desirable
  • Knowledge of simulation tools, ModelSim or equivalent
  • Position requires a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Working knowledge of signal integrity, EMI/EMC issues, thermal management, and experience with signal integrity CAD tools.
  • Must be able to work closely with board design engineers to ensure functional, electrical, and physical design constraints are clearly communicated and mutually agreeable upon.
  • Working knowledge of hardware technology, including High speed digital, memory and mixed-signal.
  • Experience translating system and customer requirements into sub-system requirements
  • Proven ability to document engineering analysis and design decisions
  • System-on-chip (SoC) experience (preferably Xilinx MPSoC) is a plus
  • Experience in the field of Medical Devices product design (e.g. MRI, CT, X-Ray, Mammography systems etc.) is a strong plus
  • Travel is 5-10%
