We are looking for an Operations Manager in Eaton’s electrical business, based in Mascot, New South Wales, Australia.

The Operations Manager in Australia directly reports to Commercial Director in Australia and functionally to Operations Director, APAC in Crouse Hinds, B-Line and O&G Organization. The primary responsibility of Operations Manager is to successfully lead all facets of the Manufacturing Operations and Customer service as well as engineering in Australia.

This role will create and implement disciplined processes and procedures that align throughout the sites, in the areas of Service, CI/LEAN Tools, Sales Inventory, New Product Introduction, Operations and Planning (SIOP), and materials management, and will provide leadership to the organization through a proactive and motivating approach.

Your essential responsibilities:

  • Lead the team to one objective / one goal – World Class Manufacturing Excellence through the deployment and execution of an operational optimization strategy that provides the best competitive position with core competencies, localized supply chain, and coordinated communication
  • Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement which upholds our Eaton Leadership Attributes & Values which include high performance, inclusion and diversity, and excellence in quality of work
  • Anticipate, develop and deploy safe & sustainable manufacturing processes & systems
  • Improve operations through alignment with Eaton’s Business System & OpA / SIOP with a strong focus on driving continuous improvement / lean culture and consistent standard of processes for safety, quality, material management, sourcing and cost out
  • Manage day-to-day business within operations for various function – Supply Chain, Production, Quality, EHS, Engineering, Customer Service
  • Adhere to CH high 5 Metrics – Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Cost
  • Communicate effectively with Asia pacific Operation team headed by Operations Director
  • Direct and coordinate, purchasing activities for timely scheduling and delivery of purchased materials to comply with sales and or production requirements
  • Effective co-ordination with the Sales team and BDMs
  • Lead the continuous improvement of quality and delivery performance to customers
  • Maintain and improve the relationship with outside suppliers to arrange for the purchase of goods and services and negotiate purchase contracts
  • Be involved in solving problems regarding delivery dates, damaged merchandise, and other goods not meeting specification
  • Accountable for Operating margin, P & L for operations, EBT, Capex spends and Profit plan
  • Lead customer service team to manage order execution to offer the world-class service level to customer
  • Lead engineering team on internal and external change management from specification document control, drawing working based on customer needs, BOM working, technical and certification ownership to meet regulation request, etc.
Qualifications

If you have:

  • A strong knowledge of Operational Leadership, a tertiary education with appropriate qualifications is essential. Further post graduate qualifications (MBA, Six sigma etc.) an advantage
  • >10 years related experience
  • Broad knowledge of key operational systems including sales inventory operations planning (SIOP), materials planning systems (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and quality systems with diverse experience managing varied and complex manufacturing processes
  • An extensive background in driving continuous improvement activities to improve operational performance including knowledge of lean management systems and lean tools
  • Strong leadership skills along with proven capability to deliver results and build high performance teams
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, and the ability to lead multiple functions
