What is the opportunity?

The Decision Analytics and Business Intelligence team collaborates with product groups, channel partners and marketing across the Canadian Banking and Insurance platforms to help drive business results by developing optimized marketing solutions enabled through business and marketing analysis.

The Director, Marketing Analytics works directly with product, channel and marketing leadership and will fulfill 3 critical roles:

  1. Lead the delivery of marketing and channel campaign analytics within Canadian Banking and RBC Insurance.
  2. Lead the Marketing Results Forum, a monthly meeting where campaign results are discussed with Marketing leaders
  3. Lead and develop an engaged, high performing team of analytics professionals.

The Director, Marketing Analytics is a highly specialized role requiring strong business acumen, deep data and technical skills along with exceptional communication skills to be able to translate and interpret complex analysis into actionable and consumable insights. In addition to the specialized role skills, the Director, Marketing Analytics also requires strong leadership and management capabilities to influence and impact the marketing analytics agenda for Canadian Banking and Insurance as well as develop an agenda and strategy to continuously improve the overall marketing and channel analytics talent within RBC.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with all business lines and respective marketing leadership to ensure marketing/channel analytics resources are used strategically and in the most effective way across Canadian Banking and Insurance to ensure all large and relevant campaigns have sufficient marketing analysis and channels are analyzed and continuously optimized
  • Lead the Marketing Results Forum, a monthly meeting where campaign results are discussed with Marketing leaders
  • Accountable for the overall quality of marketing and channel campaign analytics and ensure best-in-class campaign analytics standards, best practices and principles are applied across Canadian Banking and Insurance
  • Engage with senior business and marketing leaders to communicate the importance and application of marketing campaign and channel analytics
  • Lead the identification, implementation and adoption of new methods or processes to optimize campaign and channel analytics
  • Develop, recommend, and align with partners on direct marketing best practices
  • Provide analytical support and insights related to the Next Best Offer initiative
  • Constantly innovate to improve analytical and measurement approached with a view towards assisting our partners meet their business and financial imperatives
  • Champion infrastructure and process enhancements to support the ongoing development of marketing and transformational strategies
  • Collaborate with partners, peers and manager to prioritize and allocate analytic resources to ensure sufficient marketing and channel analysis coverage across Canadian Banking & Insurance

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 5+ years of people management experience ; demonstrated proactive leadership in a team and a cross functional environment
  • 10+ years’ experience in a client facing analytical database marketing, business analytics or related role
  • Superior and proven experience in the application of experimental design and statistical analysis of results
  • Strong business acumen and strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to conceptualize strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through a high degree of change and work collaboratively through impact and influence in a cross functional environment
  • Ability to drive innovation and change
  • Attention to detail, organization, ability to multi task and time management is critical
  • Solid understanding of data analysis tools, such as SAS, python, SQL and Excel

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in financial services industry with broad understanding of marketing, product management, sales, finance, pricing and risk management
  • Knowledge in Hadoop, Google Analytics and Big Data environment
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline
