The Marketplace SME team is an important part of the PYPL sales org, whose overall goal is to grow and strengthen PayPal Marketplace merchant partnerships, drive increased revenue for the Marketplace and PayPal, and support overall adoption of PayPal’s payments solutions in the marketplace. This role is responsible for taking a pro-active role in growing and protecting the business of some of our most important Marketplace customers (“Core MPs”). This role will focus on Core Marketplaces that are domiciled in Europe or Rest of World. Specifically, this role will be one that is a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ as it relates to the unique needs of marketplaces. It will focus in all areas that are important to marketplaces and their sellers including but not limited to payments, growth, shipping, payouts, billing, check-out, product, marketing, credit, risk and regional regulations. This role will partner very closely with the Enterprise Sales team in both a reactive and proactive manner. The Core MP SME will be on hand for any deals whereby the assigned account executive asks for SME support and will be in parallel mining the Core Marketplaces for new opportunities and passing those leads to the Enterprise Sales team to work to completion.
Responsibilites:
  • Identify growth opportunities within the marketplace portfolio through full stack product integrations, unbranded processing, payouts, credit, risk as a service, or other strategic priorities.
  • Co-selling with the Enterprise Sales team to help drive new opportunities to close either by the passing of qualified leads to the Enterprise sales team or in supporting the account executive in an active negotiation.
  • Act as the voice of the customer: learning our customers’ pain points and wish list; understanding their priorities and urgency, ensuring that this is shared with the adjacent PayPal business units
  • Close coordination with product, technology, analytics, operations, marketing, credit, risk and professional services teams to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our Core Marketplaces
  • Fiercely competitive in a highly competitive space; able to operate defensively e.g. being highly aware of competitor moves in an account, and structuring deals to secure PayPal prominence
  • Ability to effectively communicate with executives as well as all other internal and external stakeholders, regardless of role or level
  • Facilitate strategy meetings between senior management teams as appropriate
  • Able to operate in an environment defined by adversity and without direction to create structure, definition, and clarity of purpose
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate business and technical concepts to cross-functional audiences

Requirements:

  • min. 8+ years of experience selling complex payments solutions to Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Proven knowledge and experience working with or selling to Marketplaces and navigating the EMEA regulatory landscape.
  • Deep experience working with C-level executives and decision makers.
  • Proven consultative sales abilities and the ability to work well in a matrixed environment, collaborate across multiple departments and influence all levels within an organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to develop value-driven narratives and ROI-based proposals.
  • A self-starter with consistent track record of exceeding quota targets.
  • Ability to apply structure to unstructured environments
  • Has the unique ability to build trusted relationships while still pushing for results
  • Proven people management experience including the ability to influence in a highly cross functional team
