As a Staff Software Engineer, Backend - Sponsored Posts with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) you’ll work with a team of engineers to architect and implement new ad platform that scales our business. Develop tools and algorithms to help advertisers realize the potential of Nextdoors ads platform. Develop a breadth of knowledge across the stack and drive cross-functional teams to build high-quality products and software
systems. Oversee junior engineers work. Collaborate with Design, Product and Engineering teams to shape product design and specifications and engage with Nextdoor members, advertisers and revenue team to shape the roadmap for ads. Specific duties include: Developing new features for ad server; Providing data analysis of ad server; Planning roadmap for ad server; and Fixing bugs in the software program and maintaining the ad server.

• Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or a related field
• 4 years of experience in software development
• Demonstrated experience must include:
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining highly scalable systems that serve data and provide business logic to client applications;
  • Implementing and successfully rolling out critical modules including authentication, user activity controls, messaging, search, social graph, user profile management, payments, caching, and photos;
  • Creating software platforms for user verification;
  • Working with third party Application Programming Interfaces; Databases--SQL and NO- SQL, redis and memcache; elastic search; and algorithms and data structures
