We are searching for a Project Engineer to lead Integrated Product Development Team efforts relative to follow on engineering and production oversight of Controllers for the ORION program. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for leading the IPD teams consisting of Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Design, Supplier Quality, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planners, and Purchasing to drive delivery of these products within the approved budget and schedule. This position will take direction from the Program Chief Engineer for the ORION Program.

The Project Engineer will also drive the execution of all engineering responsibilities on the program while meeting both internal and external customer expectations. Direct communication with customers will be required – including daily tag-ups, weekly meetings, and quarterly meetings. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), technical experience, and the ability to work as cross-functional team member.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating setting team meeting agendas, leading team meetings and driving action item closures
  • Team activity scope control, including status and corrective action plans to budget challenges
  • Coordination of engineering change activities
  • Coordination and driving failure investigation activities
  • Driving issue resolution closures due to assembly, test and procurement challenges.
  • Ability and desire to become and perform export classifications for the program

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
  • Prior experience in related Engineering discipline(s)
  • Experience with industry standards for IPC J-STD-001, ANSI ESDS20.20, NASA-STD 8739
  • ​Ability to help define circuit card assembly drawings/notes/view and understand relationship to electrical schematic
  • Some understanding of EEE parts basic functionality and application into space environment
  • ​Experience with environmental control hardware (e.g. thermal and humidity control, air revitalization, water reclamation etc.)
  • Demonstrated command of RRCA methodology and tools
  • Experience troubleshooting (specifically with respect to MRB disposition) in troubleshooting problems on the production floor and coming up with creative solutions that maintain product quality while minimizing cost/schedule impact
  • Utilize Earned Value methodology to forecast program demands and track project completion
  • Strong computer skills, MS Office, SAP, Windchill
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in an engineering discipline is preferred
