The Billing Solutions Technology (BST) organization oversees the majority of Billing and Invoicing operations for Schwab. This includes integration with numerous upstream systems to gather relevant transaction and client data, consolidation of that data along with applying fee schedules via multiple billing platforms, and processing Billions of dollars in revenue for Schwab, touching many lines of business.

The BST team is within a modernization effort, along with the rest of Schwab, moving to more of a distributed and vendor based environment, and creating some exciting opportunities to be on the ground floor of our future technology, while also influencing, designing and engineering our future from the ground up. This position will become the Subject Matter Expert within the vendor Billing platforms, understanding and driving our best practices, configuration and integration internally, and with all external systems within Schwab. They will be involved in understanding business problems, working within the solution, along with custom integration points, to recommend and implement solutions, while mentoring others on the team and our business partners.

This role provides an opportunity to leverage strong analytical and development skills to solve complex business problems across multiple functional areas, while also providing technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and applications to support client user requirements. This role is also critical in driving significant enhancements and streamlining processes which will allow the ability to bring more flexible products to the market quicker.

What you are good at

• Become a subject matter expert within our Internal and Vendor Billing applications, leveraging the features, attributes and structure to configure the environment to support our complex business requirements, calculations and hierarchy
• Actively participate in design sessions, development with unit testing and automated QA testing, along with partnership with internal and external domains with a quest to ensure our deliverables meet the business and technical requirements
• Engage in the modernization of a new billing platform, including building our integration tooling (DDaX) and integration of the new platform into all aspects of Schwab.
• Working closely with our Business System Analysts to help them identify, define and document business/technical requirements.
• High collaboration with team and vendor partners discussing options and enhancement opportunities.
• Integration of a vendor platform into Schwab technical environment, including building and leveraging flat or API feeds, and being a subject matter expert within the application.
• The candidate must be able to balance multiple priorities while navigating daily opportunities.
• The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem solving, have the ability to quickly learn new concepts and must be able to interact with all levels of technical and business.

What you have

• 3+ years developing code, leveraging Java, Spring, SQL
• 1+ years' experience with Atlassian suite (Bamboo, BitBucket, Jira, Confluence) preferred
• 1+ years’ of vendor application support experience preferred - (Billing vendors such as SunTec or RevPort / Bonaire preferred)
• 2+ years’ experience integrating, configuration, and designing complex applications for enterprise wide projects.
• Exposure to core infrastructure services such as DNS, NAS, SAN, Networking, SMTP, NAC, Active Directory, GPOs, DHCP, and relational databases, and Public and Private Clouds
• Knowledge of CI/CD methodologies
• Experience and willingness to develop with the SDET mindset, incorporating testing into development
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written) and willing to discuss topics and offer opinions
• Naturally curious self-starter who seeks a challenge
