Job Description

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the national umbrella organization for the nation’s leading network of women’s health care providers, educators, and advocates, serving women, men, teens and families. Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) is the advocacy and political arm of PPFA. For over 100 years, Planned Parenthood has done more than any other organization in the United States to improve women’s health and safety, prevent unintended pregnancies, and advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible health care decisions. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seeks a detail-oriented and purpose driven Project Manager. This job reports to the Associate Director, Quality Care and Health Equity (QCHE) in the Health Care Division of PPFA.

Purpose

    • Provide high level project management and related administrative support to ensure timely and efficient execution of core Public Health Outcomes Improvement (PHOI) and Quality Care & Healthy Equity (QCHE) department deliverables, related to public health outcomes and equity workstreams.

Delivery

    • Help develop, drive and manage strategically-integrated projects to further the goals and objectives of the health equity team across the department, as well as across divisions within the organization, ensuring that timelines and work flows around content development and strategies are implemented and aligned to PPFA’s vision and mission.
    • Support the Health Equity Steering committee, Executive Champions Committee and Pursuing Equity Learning and Action Network by documenting meeting notes and action items, supporting the tracking and execution of project-specific deliverables, preparing materials and relevant documents, conducting project-specific research and managing logistical needs.
    • Gather information and research relevant policies on public health topics of interest to PPFA (i.e., STIs, HIV, smoking cessation, maternal health, etc.). Develop guidance documents for affiliates. Identify partnership opportunities and spaces where PPFA could collaborate with national groups on public health topics.
    • In collaboration with cross functional partners, develop project schedules, materials and workflows, define and track project milestones and identify opportunities for integration across PHOI and within the QCHE department.
    • Track and report out on the status of major initiatives/projects across PHOI. Maintain and update departmental resources, including one-pagers, powerpoint presentations, organizational charts, and handouts.
    • Manage listservs, intranet and newsletter content for various communications across the organization on behalf of PHOI. This involves liaising with department leads and drafting communications to capture work that will be shared across the federation, often adhering to timelines set by PPFA National Office staff.
    • Work with Associate Director, QCHE to oversee project budget(s), control project resources and minimize scope creep.
    • Manage meeting preparation, including working with the Senior Director, PHOI and Associate Director, Health Equity on developing communications, presentations and updates for PPFA Healthcare Division, Affiliate CEO Champions, steering committees and other stakeholders.
    • Identify and mitigate risks that can potentially impact projects, escalating risks appropriately and defining best practices for proactively managing them in the future.
    • Work with department leaders to ensure accountability for timing of plans and deliverables.
    • Work with core team members to review status of jobs and prioritize work.
    • Work with the PHOI team to develop project management related standard operating procedures (SOPs), as needed.

Engagement

    • This role will work closely with the Senior Director, PHOI and Associate Director(s), Health Equity on priority projects, as well as the Associate Director, QCHE, on overall team and department alignment. The Project Manager will be a valued member of the PHOI team within the QCHE department and contribute to team and department priorities, culture and community.
    • In order to ensure execution of the health equity and outcomes work, the Project Manager will be required to build and maintain strong relationships with cross divisional partners, particularly across the Health Care Division and Policy teams at the PPFA National Office. This position should demonstrate intercultural competence and ensure that all work products consider the impacts of the work on multiple communities, including communities of color and individuals with different gender identities and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • The Project Manager will also interface with affiliate staff at all levels of the organization from front line to Chief Officers.

Technical Skills/Expertise

    • 3-4 years of experience directly related to project management and administrative support
    • Demonstrated understanding of health equity, reproductive justice and the structural drivers of health that impact marginalized communities
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
    • High level of competency and comfort with technology, including a fluency in project management software (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet)
    • Experience working with stakeholders across the Federation desirable
    • Knowledge of diverse groups, working within a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity and appreciation to cultural differences is required

Travel

    • 0-25%
Starting Salary: $80K *LI-KM1 Final offers for this job will be based on capabilities and will be made within the parameters of the PPFA compensation program.
