The PRA New Product Planning & Strategic Partnerships role will represent the voice of Canada payers in the product development cycle from early phase until handover to the PRA Commercialization team at the beginning of Phase 3. The role will be focused on initiating all PRA activities for early assets within Canada in close coordination with Global NPP/PRA and will make sure to have the voice of our market well represented in the products’ development plans.

As Strategic Partnership Leader, the role will also develop strategies that focus on emerging technologies and new products/services to achieve critical business objectives. This role will lead strategic projects and support transactional work across the enterprise, including M&A, in-licensing, out-licensing, JV formation and academic/government partnerships. This role is expected to serve as a Lilly leader for industry consortiums and other external bodies as appropriate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving quality customer payer feedback into early phase product planning:
  • This includes development of PRA landscapes for molecules/indications in scope, execution of payer advisory boards, partnering with GPORWE and Global PRA/NPP on early scientific advice with HTA bodies, support for deep dives, and working with market research.
  • Influencing the development of clinical and commercial plans for the molecules / indications to reflect critical payer needs within Canada:
  • Working with the cross functional team within affiliate to ensure that their feedback is elevated to Global PRA/NPP. Health outcome studies and clinical trials design result in a robust and holistic evidence plan that will optimize PRA success locally – this will include leading heat map and holistic evidence plans.
  • Supporting NPP marketing initiatives to reflect Canada payers’ needs.
  • Engaging Corporate Affairs in PRA strategies and plans to optimize the environment we launch in (environment shaping)
  • Shaping at the local level the PRA strategies and plans.
  • Integrating local feedback into the Global PRA strategies and pricing whitepapers.
  • Delivering consistent and appropriate PRA recommendations into forecasting to support business decisions:
    • This includes providing price recommendations and access adjustments for specific indications and for the overall asset ensuring that the rationale is understood to support the development of forecasts and business decisions as well as the communication of risks and mitigation plans.
  • Leadership of interactions with external organizations. Represent and influence Lilly strategies and needs to external organizations (companies, investment groups, VCs, academic community, government agencies, etc.).
  • Leadership in the identification and objective assessment of potential partnership opportunities, including the identification of key issues and appropriate expertise to facilitate resolution.
  • Timely and effective communication / interface / influence with internal leadership at both the affiliate and global level as required.

This role will not be focused on a specific therapeutic area and the individual will need to support broad internal assets or business development opportunities on early products in collaboration with the Global PRA / NPP team.

Basic Qualifications

  • M.B.A. or Ph.D. in a discipline related to pharmaceutical drug discovery and development.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with Market Access and Pricing in Canada
  • Skills in strategic thinking, scenario planning, competitive assessment, problem-solving, creative thinking & market research.
  • Ability to develop innovative approaches to pricing and market access as necessary.
  • Comfort in “white space”, dealing with ambiguity, and leading in uncertainty.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to review and garner implications from a variety of data sources including reports, transcripts, payer feedback, market research, etc.
  • Strong agility/comfort working with detailed clinical information across broadly diverse therapy areas.
  • Utilize that knowledge to assess clinical plans & provide feedback/insight on the payer perspective of value in order to shape appropriate value propositions.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with commercial, health outcomes and medical colleagues at global and affiliate levels.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with an ability to get "to the essence" in communication.
  • Ability to influence decisions without authority.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills with the willingness and ability to deal with conflicts
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver both strategic and tactical plans

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Broad payer experience in Canada (worked as a Payer, as an Account Executive or in Payer Marketing, PRA, Health Outcomes, Health Technology Appraisal or Pricing).
  • Fundamental understanding of Health Economic
