About this role

BlackRock’s Corporate Strategy and Development Group is responsible for supporting the firm in positioning BlackRock to generate robust, long-term growth and shareholder value creation through formulating and executing enterprise-level vision and strategy, facilitating business level strategies and driving large multi-functional assignments and initiatives for the firm. The team is also responsible for sourcing, assessing and executing acquisitions, investments, divestitures and partnerships / alliances based on BlackRock's strategic priorities.

Position description:

Based in New York, the Associate will report to the Chief of Staff to the Head of International and of Corporate Strategy and will be responsible for supporting the Head and the leadership team more broadly. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in projects focused on our strategic priorities and long-term firm strategy. Given the broad range of projects and global business culture, the candidate should feel comfortable working with teams across regions and engaging across functional areas.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partnering with teams across the firm to create executive-level presentations, speeches, and talking points on business/investment subject matter for use with both clients and internal audiences (e.g., Board, GEC, ExCos, staff meetings, etc.)
  • Owning the briefing process for both internal and external engagements and presentations
  • Assess and respond to all incoming opportunities and meeting requests for the Head of International and of Corporate Strategy
  • Managing engagement tracking metrics and reporting to ensure a targeted distribution of meetings and events by focus area, region, and engagement type
  • Ensuring proper connectivity across corporate executive offices and business functions by representing strategic priorities and upcoming travel and client engagements
  • Driving strategic meeting series (e.g., Country Manager Forum), including strategy and planning, content creation, and executing key follow-ups
  • Organizing and preparing content for senior leadership offsites and conferences (e.g., GEC offsites, GLS)
  • Contributing to Corporate Strategy projects and initiates driven from the office (e.g., Board strategy update)
  • Overseeing and managing all GEC-related activities at the firm (weekly meeting preparation, calendar management, new member onboarding, ongoing BAU management, etc.)

An ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • An interest in global markets, investor needs, and industry dynamics broadly
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and sense of urgency, especially under pressure and in preparation for high visibility engagements
  • High-energy, positive “can-do” attitude, and an ability to work as a team player, accept substantial individual responsibility, and proactively create value for the team
  • Ability to manage complex, interdepartmental projects in a professional, inclusive, deadline-driven fashion
  • Mastery in the creation of documents (e.g., PowerPoint decks for meetings, podium presentations, business memos, etc.)
  • Comfort navigating data sets and tools (e.g., Reuters Eikon), compiling data packs and ability to display data effectively

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with strong record of academic achievement
  • 2+ years of experience in asset management, consulting or investment banking
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strategic and creative thinking aptitude
  • Ability to deliver with a sense of urgency, responding to tight deadlines and multiple demands
