Job Description
The Job As the Senior Technical Program Manager you will play a key role within WarnerMedia’s DTC Technology organization by making sure the product development efforts meet the highest standards from technical, business and product perspective. You will operate on Global level and has the ownership over a product or feature area of HBO Max, works together with cross functional teams and manages the initiatives by using technical skills, project management and product development best practices.
The Daily - Manage product and feature portfolios with broad organizational and business impact.
- Own full end-to-end lifecycle for cross-functional product development efforts.
- Manage and lead at scale, building and maintaining roadmap for their program, provides project leadership, anticipates bottlenecks, mitigates project risks, quantifies trade-off impacts to meet stretched deadlines with the possibly highest quality standards and product value delivered.
- Secure and manage resource, dependency, and budget commitments for their programs.
- Balance business and product needs with technical constraints by building deep subject matter expertise for their ownership area.
- Use technical skills to understand how architecture and systems fit together, identify tech dependencies, improves engineering estimates and designs, simplify implementations, and contribute to resolve technical problems.
- Apply project management best-practices and methodologies to create and refine processes that make business and engineering teams more effective.
- Establish durable mechanisms to address reoccurring problems or dependence on tribal knowledge.
- Work together with engineering, product, QA and design teams on breaking down the initiatives to user stories and development tasks to define and deliver the scope successfully.
- Present program risks, highlights and technical solutions to business partners, peers, engineers, product managers and to senior executives with tailoring the message appropriately to the audience.
- Create, follows-up and keeps project documents up to date, provides regular and ad-hoc project reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage multiple concurring development tasks and projects with different priorities and resource needs and make prioritization decisions on the team level.
The Essentials - 6+ years of relevant work experience in technical program management or in similar role(s) with transferable skills both with project and product management aspects.
- At least 2 years of experience in video/streaming/media product development area.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a technical discipline, or equivalent technical knowledge gained by experience.
- Fluent oral and written English.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Strong project management skills and product development methodology knowledge including agile methodologies on scale.
- Experience with all aspects of the software development lifecycle on a global product from requirements gathering, development, testing, release management and familiarity with the common challenges within each phase to be able to proactively see and manage potential issues before they arise.
- Excellent judgement, problem solving, time management and prioritization skills.
- Highly motivated to lead projects and the product to success even against stretched goals.
- Proficient with business applications like JIRA, Confluence.
- Developer or Software Engineer experience is a plus.
- Experience in working teams through different time-zones is a plus.
