Magic Leap is seeking an energetic and dynamic Program Manager to lead a highly interdisciplinary team of discipline experts to shape and launch complex consumer electronic products and features. Working in an agile, startup environment, this Program Manager will be responsible for owning a device from our next generation hardware platform and leading it through the development lifecycle: from initial concept, to engineering design and development, to launch and commercialization.
In this role, you will be responsible for launching a device from our next generation platform critical for our product’s user experience and user interface.
Responsibilities
- Lead group of cross-functional technical and operational subject matter experts in order to accomplish the following:
- create an agreed-upon definition of project scope and goals
- develop WBS; define task durations and dependencies
- establish costs/budget
- create and drive an integrated program plan
- Proactively identify and aggressively mitigate program risk; apply sound engineering problem-solving techniques and innovative mitigation plans to deliver excellence.
- Lead creation and maintenance of key program performance metrics to report status and drive team actions based on performance analysis.
- Lead complex technology partnerships with external vendors, integrate external teams and results into critical path workflow and manage deliverables against statement of work.
- Prioritize team activities, lead decision-making processes, and make appropriate commitments to dependent teams and stakeholders.
- Actively assess program health, utilize technical, managerial, and leadership skills to keep project velocity on track. Understand and exercise escalation process both internally and externally as required to ensure high quality, on-time delivery.
- Convey to program team a strong sense of urgency and a bias for action
- Exhibit sustained energy in achieving aggressive results and high standards of performance
- Lead well-organized, efficient meetings using effective meeting protocols and guidelines
- Champion change initiatives (if necessary) for the business in ways that generate understanding and support from team members and coworkers.
- Concisely report program status by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends related to schedule, budget or scope
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MBA preferred
- PMP Certification
- 5-7 years’ experience leading engineering programs in electronics product field
- Deep understanding of the product development lifecycle
- Strong experience designing, developing, and launching consumer electronic products with electrical, mechanical and software components
- Proficient in Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Doc, etc)
- Ability to quickly understand complex, interdependent technical requirements
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical skills, good attention to detail, and ability to follow issues through resolution
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MBA preferred
