Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Working in a dynamic and fast paced Capital Markets environment, this role will drive and influence sourcing decisions, optimize the supply base and be relentless in the pursuit of cost savings/avoidance opportunities while balancing supplier risk in a highly regulated and exciting business platform. As a member of a high performing team that demonstrates Procurement’s strategic value and partnership, the individual will identify and lead complex strategic sourcing and contracting of technology products including enterprise and business application software and related services in support of the Capital Markets business. The incumbent will leverage a full suite of sourcing knowledge, skills, experience and tools including but not limited to market intelligence and data and analytics in support of sourcing strategies to ensure solid sourcing practices that adhere to RBC’s policy and procedures.

What will you do?

  • Establish strong and credible relationships across the Capital Markets business platform with the objective of understanding the business strategy and direction in order to align with supplier sourcing strategies and spend categories.
  • Develop strategic sourcing strategies and initiatives in tandem with the business for specific categories being sourced using industry analysis, business knowledge, competitive analysis and sourcing expertise.
  • Build and continuously update a comprehensive and robust contract pipeline to proactively identify, manage, address and report on sourcing opportunities
  • Be subject matter expert on RBC’s Enterprise Procurement & Third Party Risk policies and procedures in order to ensure 100% compliance with all end to end sourcing requirements from supplier selection to contracting life cycle.
  • Lead the end to end sourcing process including:
    • Developing the project framework
    • Establishing and leading the working team
    • Gathering business requirements
    • Integrating marketing intelligence
    • Conducting supplier due diligence
    • Creating eRfx ( RFI, RFQ and RFP)
    • Facilitating scoring and evaluation of proponents
    • Developing financial modeling to drive negotiations
    • Creating Executive level “fact packs” for recommending awards
    • Negotiating contracts with solid knowledge of commercial and industry level terms and conditions
    • Documenting and providing advice to clients on contractual risks
    • Ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the sourcing lifecycle including contract uploads to Procurement systems and applications
  • Negotiate both complex and non-complex IT and Non IT agreements including Master Agreements, Transaction Schedules, Statement of Works, Amendments and other relevant documents in partnership with Centers of Governance such as but not limited to Supplier Management Office, Legal, Compliance, and IT Security etc....
  • Develop and implement global efficiencies, standardized tools, technology, policies and procedures related to Procurement
  • Drive, innovate and recommend opportunities to continuously improve and enhance the strategic value of Procurement to the organization.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Solid knowledge, understanding and experience in strategic sourcing with a minimum 5 + years’ relevant technology experience in sourcing
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering or equivalent to a 4 year university program in relevant discipline or related Supply Chain or Procurement Designation
  • Excellent communication skills and even better listening skills to champion the "voice of the internal customer"
  • Relationship builder who can lead when required and participate and influence others if and when required
  • Seasoned negotiator who can understand and exploit points of leverage including leveraging contracts terms/conditions in order to optimize cost structures and minimize risk
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills to identify and support negotiation strategies
  • Strategic thinker with strong impact and influence skills who can act as an effective change agent and drive outcomes and deliverables
  • Relentless in the pursuit of cost savings/avoidance and mitigating risk in the supplier and/or spend category
  • A creative and innovative thinker who is capable of building solutions that will deliver tangible results
  • A multi tasker who can organize, prioritize and keep the client and partners focused on the end game
  • Confident, assertive demeanor to navigate in a Capital Markets aggressive and deadline driven culture
  • Strong team player who works collaboratively and builds influence with Clients and Suppliers to achieve the best value for RBC

Nice To Have

  • Experience working in a global financial institution and/or capital markets business
  • Knowledge and experience in a category management role specific to technology
  • Understanding of common technology and suppliers that support a trading environment
  • Basic awareness and understanding of regulatory and compliance driven requirements for trading platforms
