What You'll Do
BCG’s Center for Customer Insight (CCI) delivers innovative, best-in-class insights to drive economic impact and build sustainable business value and advantage for our clients. At the core of BCG's Center for Customer Insight is a global team of expert consultants and knowledge team members that specialize in projects requiring design, execution, interpretation, utilization, and application of consumer and customer insight research to advance our clients’ goals. As an Expert Consultant within BCG’s Center for Customer Insight (CCI), you will design, execute, analyse, and interpret customer and consumer research as we partner with clients to uncover new sources of competitive advantage and value for their business. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious and inquisitive with a genuine passion for problem solving. A strong service orientation, excellent interpersonal skills, leadership experience, and exceptional quantitative analytical skills are critical for success in the role. The primary focus of the role will be to work on client engagements in Australia and New Zealand. Due to the structure of our CCI Practice, the role will have the opportunity to work on client engagements from Europe and North America remotely.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Own a module of work (end to end) which includes survey and sample design, commissioning a panel provider to execute the fieldwork, and then conducting the analysis to deliver insights and final recommendations to the client • Help to drive business impact with our clients by using a wide range of quantitative and qualitative consumer research techniques (for e.g. conjoint, maxdiff, segmentation) • Collaborate with core project team members to transform research and analysis into thoughtful insights that deliver maximum impact for your clients • Play an advisory role by guiding BCG’s project teams on how to best collaborate with external research vendors and how to best select the research techniques and methodologies to add value to the projects • Adept at building trust and rapport with clients by understanding their business, relating to their experiences, and empathising with their challenges • Play a role in the growth of Customer Insight through case execution, business development, and intellectual property creation • Create awareness of BCG expertise and capabilities externally through participating in key industry forums, publications, studies, tools, etc. • Elevate our ability to deliver client impact by creating the next generation of IP and deepening our knowledge • Engage BCG's internal community on expertise and capabilities, with a strong focus on sharing knowledge and insight • Lead Intellectual capital development of CCI that helps BCG to engage with our existing and potential clients regularly • Author training material to equip BCG Australia and New Zealand teams to Independently run the customer and consumer research
Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT)
The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.
What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)
- 5+ years of industry and/or consulting experience, with a focus on consumer research, product management, or quantitative analytics and insight generation (ideally in a marketing or consumer experience organisation)
- Demonstrated expertise across a wide range of research topics (e.g., pricing, branding, segmentations, customer journeys), and quantitative methodologies (e.g., conjoint analysis, segmentation techniques, decision trees)
- Ability to perform actual survey data analysis using SPSS/R/Tableau/Alteryx, produce quantitative modelling, and interpret data through a business and economic lens to create commercial recommendations is essential
- Previous experience in Consumer Insight at the brand or category level for a global, blue-chip Consumer Goods/Services company and/or previous consulting experience in this discipline at a specialised consulting firm
- Minimum of a Bachelor degree with outstanding academic performance from a top tier university
- Strong set of consulting skills with demonstrated willingness to learn
