Job Description

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in in-house compliance department, international trade consulting, trade law or a related field.
  • Experience with Taiwan, China, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong import and export regulations, HTS classification, customs valuation, Google Trust Services (GTS) management.
  • Experience building relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and partners.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Excellent problem solving skills and business acumen.
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills and an aptitude for business strategy.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

About the job

Google’s Devices and Services Product Area (DSPA) Global Trade Compliance supports and delivers consumer hardware products (e.g. Pixel phones) to our end-customers globally while ensuring customs compliance with local import and export regulations. In this role, you will lead and manage and import and export operations for the APAC region. You will play a key role in evolving process excellence by identifying compliance risks, developing collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, and managing critical projects both globally and regional-specific initiatives. This role is located in Hong Kong and will manage a regional team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on import and export compliance requirements and operationalize customs, indirect tax, country expansion, product introduction or regulatory requirements with key stakeholders (e.g., in-house trade counsels, product regulatory, operations, sourcing).
  • Develop, document, and maintain operational processes and procedures to support trade compliance and cross-border activity.
  • Engage with external stakeholders (e.g., contract manufacturer, vendor, third-party suppliers, customs broker, transportation) to identify opportunities and mitigate customs compliance risks.
  • Oversee internal audits and conduct internal reviews of our trade practices, including onsite reviews on third-party logistics and customs brokers.
  • Assist with a number of global trade compliance programs and initiatives, including policies, playbooks, workflows, training, and compliance toolkits.
