Description:

Providence is calling a Physical Therapist (Physical Therapy, Days, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

This position organizes and conducts medically prescribed therapy programs using theory and Physical Therapy skills to rehabilitate clients toward their improved functional capacity and ability to accomplish activities of daily living.

In this position you will:

  • Demonstrates competency in providing quality therapy services including assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation and communication. Also demonstrates competency with identifying and making appropriate referrals regarding medical, social and emotional factors influencing care.
  • Evaluates physical and functional mobility status including but not limited to ROM strength, balance and gait. Based on results, modifies treatment plans taking into consideration the age related needs of the client.
  • Develop a therapy plan of care in collaboration with clients/families. The plan of care is communicated with the multidisciplinary team to form a collaborative client care plan. Instructs clients and their family members in the use of therapeutic activities to restore and maintain maximal level of function.
  • Documents all evaluations, progress, treatment and coordination of care contacts in appropriate facility/agency format. Meets agency time guidelines for completing documentation. Documentation reflects good clinical documentation as well as meeting agency billing and reimbursement requirements.
  • Provides client/family education and counseling regarding issues related to treatments and goals, safety risks and/or other issues within scope of practice.
  • Provides case management of the client's care plan and provides supervision and ongoing coordination of services and resources as indicated in the client's care plan. Assumes a client advocacy role as needed, participates in care conferences.
  • Evaluates, recommends and assists in obtaining adaptive equipment. Fabricates adaptive equipment as needed. Instructs clients to use adaptive techniques and/or device to aid in accomplishing specific activities and tasks of daily living. Instructs clients and/or others in the use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic and orthopedic devices.
  • Supervises therapy students according to professional and departmental guidelines.
  • Continually upgrades clinical skill level and provides in-services to staff regarding new treatment or techniques learned.
  • Participates in program development, in-services and staff meetings as requested. Participates in quality assurance programs, including peer review.
  • Meets departmental productivity standards established for therapy. Uses time efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Physical Therapy
  • Meets all clinical affiliation requirements and passing national exam
  • Current Washington State Physical Therapist License.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree of Physical Therapy
  • 1 year of therapy experience in rehab or acute setting preferred. Consideration will be given for new grads with relevant intern experience, two years preferred.
  • Experience working with a geriatric population.
  • 5 years of Leads - experience in physical therapy and in supervision.
