The Opportunity

Just Eat is looking to hire an Associate Engineer for a team building machine learning driven features which help our customers to find dishes they’ll love. You will be working in a data-driven environment as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with our data scientists, product manager, analyst and engineers to build and deploy reliable, scalable, low latency, customer-centric features. Our goal is to help every customer to discover dishes they will love every time and to pave the way for other teams at Just Eat who might benefit from machine learning driven approaches.

You don’t need to have years of experience, in fact, you may not have worked as a coder before. You will be someone with a demonstrable interest in software, data or technology who’s able to work closely with others to collaborate, learn and solve problems. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in data, experimentation or machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Definition - develop a solid understanding of our product and help to contribute ideas and suggestions
• Operating - follow our processes and patterns in order to ensure reliable, clean code
• Communicate - transparently communicate the progress of your work and discuss ideas with your team and Technology Manager
• Teamwork - work closely with others, taking on ideas and suggestions and putting forward your own ideas
• Learning and Development - own your own learning and development, with support from the wider team and time set aside in your work day to build up your skill set

Required skills and experience

Your Profile & Experience

• Interest or experience in a coding language. This team mostly uses C# and Python
• Experience of working with others
• Experience or interest in data and data driven technologies

You’ll have an advantage if you have an understanding of...

• Cloud environments. We use AWS and GCP
• Testing approaches such as unit testing or functional testing
• Working within an e-commerce business where reliability is critical
