This is your opportunity to play a critical role in high-profile and fast-paced strategic projects that make headlines (such as American Express’s acquisition of Kabbage). At the same time, you will also learn about the enterprise as a whole and lead financial crimes program efforts with impacts across the company.
Corporate Development Compliance oversees regulatory compliance diligence and integration on major deals (mergers /acquisitions / divestitures) and also venture capital investments in start-ups, while also acting as Compliance Officers for the central Corporate Development team, including its venture capital arm, American Express Ventures. This compliance team is part of the Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) Program Management team, but its scope covers all compliance areas.
Part of the wider Global Risk and Compliance organization, the GFCC Program Management team is responsible for company-wide anti-money laundering, countering terrorist financing, sanctions, anti-corruption, and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) programs. It leverages its horizontal insight across products and business lines to analyze risks, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations on an ongoing basis and especially in the context of product development and other large-scale changes.

In this role, your primary focus with be on Corporate Development, but you will support projects and processes in wider GFCC Program Management. Across the board, most projects will focus on a novel product development or something entirely new to American Express, whether a product, a company, or a regulation.
Building relationships, thinking strategically, learning quickly, and drawing on your own related experiences are critical to understanding a project, challenging assumptions, collaborating effectively, and driving stakeholders to solutions.
