Job Description

We all depend on healthcare throughout our lifetimes, for ourselves, and our families and friends, but it is notoriously difficult to navigate and understand. As an industry that comprises 20% of the US economy we think healthcare should work better for all of us. At Collective Health we believe it’s time for a new day in healthcare where as members we are informed and empowered to make the right care choices when the decisions are urgent and critical.

The Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) team is a collaborative team working with nearly all departments in the company. We are a creative and compassionate, data-driven group of actuaries, analysts, and data scientists. We work together on larger projects, but we also spend time driving our own analyses and working directly with internal partners.

This role reports to the CFO and leads three key teams leveraging our data assets and supporting our data strategy. It's a fast paced and dynamic role offering the opportunity to work with varied data types to answer a wide range of questions. You'll lead a high-performing team of analysts, actuaries, and data scientists to define what the future of multifaceted and informative healthcare analytics, BI, and client reporting look like!

What you’ll do:

  • Design strategy for development of actionable, insightful metrics for external and internal audiences.
  • Work cross-functionally to build a corporate culture of data driven decision making.
  • Lead, build, nurture, and advocate for a team of actuaries, analysts, data scientists, and people managers.
  • Manage, refine, and articulate to the teams of internal and external partners of data analytic client reporting, internal business intelligence data science modeling, and actuarial sales support that is in line with the interests of the business.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to develop and communicate concrete value statements to mature our process for guaranteeing and measuring the promise of value.
  • Communicate all results, and the inquiries needed to form them, with precision and professionalism.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design leadership to understand the role of data and how we drive impact throughout the product development process. Advance data reporting, data validation and integrity.
  • Strategically advance scalable, high-quality reporting capabilities.
  • Build strong partnerships with other parts of the company including, but not limited to, Data Operations Leadership on tooling, data infrastructure, data collection, and data pipeline strategy in concert with downstream reporting opportunities.

Your skills include:

  • Team management, empowerment, support, and development
  • Significant previous experience in a hands-on, data-focused role; familiar with Advanced SQL skills and/or basic-to-advanced python skills (or ability to learn).
  • Experience working with and analyzing healthcare data and concepts is required.
  • Experience in health economics, health population analytics, insurance analytics, business intelligence, product analytics and/or healthcare actuarial sciences
  • Ability to translate nontechnical data requests into actionable quantitative projects/insights
  • Expert collaboration skills and experience with stakeholder management and prioritizing many data analytics requests
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including with senior leadership and customers
  • 10+ years in quantitative methods
  • 3+ years in healthcare data analytics or data science
  • 7+ years leading/managing analysts/actuaries/data scientists
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience
