Job Description

The Gogo Business Aviation Database Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of Gogo’s database infrastructure to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate and production applications. This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

This is an extremely exciting time at Gogo, where our newest products are enabling us to provide real-time world class support and customization unlike anything else in business aviation. This role is an integral part of our infrastructure team to continually push the limits of what is possible in aviation – both on the ground and in the air.

How will you make a difference?

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Responsible for Gogo's database infrastructure, including on-prem and cloud-hosted solutions
  • Deliver database projects through planning, design, build-out, testing, and deployment
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring and tuning of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end problem resolution
  • Willingness to perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployments after regular business hours
  • Recommend solutions and advise colleagues regarding database standards and governance across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related studies
  • 5+ years SQL Server and MySQL Administration
  • 1+ year experience with AWS RDS and DynamoDB

Required Experience, Skills and Talents

  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups, restores, recovery models , and capacity planning
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality ability to organize and plan work independently ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams

Desirable Experience, Skills and Talents

  • MCTS, MCITP, AWS Certified DB, and/or Oracle DBACP certifications
  • Experience with Azure SQL PaaS or IaaS
  • Familiarity with MS Dynamics NAV and/or MS Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Management of Oracle environments and clusters which include backups, recovery, replication, and data migrations
  • Security and Compliance (SOX) on data infrastructure

Compensation: $95,000 - $115,000

Target Annual Incentive: 5% of base compensation
