About this role

Job Purpose/Background

Product Development is a key component of our strategy to maintain and grow our leadership position in the asset management industry. For this purpose, EII (ETFs and Index Investments) is looking to appoint a Vice President within the EMEA Product Development team, reporting to the iShares EMEA Head of Product Development. The team focuses on iShares ETFs and index funds across asset classes, engaging in strategic and commercial initiatives to drive business initiatives and expand and maintain the growing indexing product range.

This important role will give the successful candidate an opportunity to be involved in shaping the product strategy and commercialisation, while interacting with many different teams across the organisation (product research, sales, marketing, risk management, index providers, investment strategy, portfolio management, ESG, Factors and Thematics teams, amongst others).

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

The individual will contribute towards product development and commercialisation, range management and strategic product priorities across our ETF and Index Fund ranges.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Lead product proposals for the internal product development committee, including managing all involved partner groups to define the business case and product construction
  • Present in front of internal committees and Boards to request approval for new products and enhancements to existing products
  • Contribute to managing the innovation pipeline, by setting the new fund launch strategy according to commercial and strategic considerations
  • Work in partnership with internal colleagues towards developing new products and building the product pipeline by taking into consideration sales and client feedback, market data, as well as the broad competitor landscape
  • Coordinate range level implementation with the relevant teams with the aim to improve resource efficiency
  • Work to commercialise growth segments, working with Sales teams to target the right client segments and scale new products
  • Lead strategic product management projects, such as regular range reviews and range enhancements to ensure that the product offering is always meeting client demand and offering a comprehensive breath of different investment tools
  • Partner with BlackRock’s client facing teams, portfolio management, product research and product strategy to implement the product development agenda
  • Engage with Sales teams and clients to socialise the product pipeline and drive engagement in new product launches and product changes
  • Support, guide and feedback to other team members on pivotal initiatives and product proposals

Knowledge/Experience

  • Previous meaningful experience in the investment funds industry
  • Prior experience in product development and product management
  • Knowledge of index construction methodologies and terminology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and presentation abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Highly organised and able to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Strong proven project management skills and proactive approach to lead and drive projects and business priorities
  • Ability to drive consensus and handle conflicting views and competing interests
  • Commercial awareness and ability to understand client needs and ways to solve them
  • Attention to detail and ability to pick up and digest new information quickly
  • Degree in a quantitative field is preferred
  • Basic programming skills (Python, R) an advantage
  • Knowledge of sustainable investment an advantage
