Job Description

The Gogo Business Aviation Failure Analysis Engineer role owns post-delivery failure analysis and supports in-process failure analysis. You will be a key contributor to our overall customer satisfaction and to the company profitability. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with electromechanical product manufacturing and troubleshooting. How will you make a difference?

• Responsible for bench level failure analysis of products rejected from production or returned from the field
• Writes clear and concise failure analysis reports
• Identifies software bugs in embedded systems and provide feedback to Software Engineers
• Assist technicians on problem solving
• Collaborates with the Manufacturing, Test Engineering and Developments teams on product yield roadmaps during the product development cycle
• Works with both the Design Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure that products designed can be manufactured in alignment with our established quality, reliability, and maintainability/serviceability targets
• Provide feedback to Supplier Quality Engineers on technical issues and provide recommendations
• Participates in ISO 9001/AS9100 audits and internal audits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in an engineering role in failure analysis, test and/or manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical products
• Ability to travel up to ~10% (domestic and international)

Required Skills, Experience and Talents

• Low level knowledge of design and functionality of embedded systems, FPGA’s, micro-processor, and ethernet interfaces.
• Ability to troubleshoot to component level high speed interfaces including but not limited to, Ethernet, USB, PCIe, and SATA interfaces
• Knowledge of PCA design and fabrication processes
• Proven experience with test and measurement techniques and tools (Network/Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Curve Tracers, Thermal Chambers, Thermocouples, etc.)
• Failure analysis troubleshooting and data analytic skills on a variety of electrical circuits, Telephone, Wi-Fi, Cellular and other transceivers
• Must be able to evaluate electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine root cause of failure
• Can generate failure reports and provide recommended corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of problems
• Proficient with office software applications and a proven ability to use basic data analysis tools
• Ability to quickly learn and develop new processes
• Demonstrated practical experience in effectively leading others through structured problem-solving exercises.
• Self-driven to achieve defined goals and metrics, requiring minimal supervision.
• Effective teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Exceptional analytical, problem solving & root-cause analysis skills
• Ability to multi-task & handle tasks with competing priorities effectively

Preferred Skills, Experience and Talents

• Knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) test and measurement knowledge
• Linux and NI LabView Scripting knowledge
• PCA DFx knowledge
• Familiarity with Agile PLM and UniPoint for data documentation in Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions and Engineering Change Requests
• Experience leading and implementing change
• Experience participating in external audits
• Experience working in a company that has implemented and maintained a certified ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System

Compensation: $81,000 - $101,000

Target Annual Incentive: 5% of base compensation
