Job Description

As a Gogo Business Aviation RF Manufacturing Test Engineer on the Production Operations team you will be responsible for leading a team of Assembly, Test and Repair Station Technicians.

How will you make a difference?

  • You will work with existing Manufacturing and Test Software Engineers to develop & deploy 5G LTE radio module NPI/production test capability, specifically:
  • Radio Module Programming & RF Calibration processes (including equipment selection for NPI development and production)
  • Radio Module Rx/Tx Call testing, utilizing industry standard 3GPP Production test suite coverage
  • Production Radio Module test processes internally at Gogo at PCA & subassembly level, as well as associated 5G LTE Functional Call testing at LRU (TLA) level
  • Assist in the planning and deployment of Radio Module test capability of PCA & Subassembly level at external Contract Manufacturer(s)
  • Assist in finalizing modifications to current test capabilities and processes for dual mode 4G LTE/ EVDO radio module:
  • Adapt & assist in management and modification of existing test capability to improve process and product yields and capability
  • Assist in deployment and management of test capability at external Contract Manufacturer(s)
  • Assist in deployment and management 4G LTE/ EVDO test capability internally @ Gogo for subassembly RF Calibration/Tx/Rx Call testing & LRU (TLA) functional testing
  • Assist ME, TE and Failure Analysis Engineers in product/test process failure analysis during NPI, production pilot/ramp and ongoing production phases
  • Participate in defining and executing process/equipment qualification and correlation methodology between external design house, Contract Manufacturer(s) and Gogo
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and work prioritization to Manufacturing Mechanical and Manufacturing Test Technicians
  • Interface with Manufacturing/Test Engineers, Quality/FA and HW Development Engineers to resolve work stoppage issues
  • Work with Manufacturing and Test Engineering during the NPI phase to develop Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWIs) and Manufacturing Test Procedures (MTPs)
  • Work with Production Supervisor to train Test and Repair Technicians on new and revised MWIs and MTPs
  • Champion a Lean mindset and is responsible for driving continuous improvements on the production floor

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and 5-7 yrs or MS +2-5 yrs or PhD + 0-2 yrs Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Work experience in an RF CommunicationsProduction Test environment
  • 2+ year work experience 4G/5G LTE Radio Module Production Test

Required skills, experience and talents

  • Outstanding organizational, leadership and project management capabilities
  • Experience in participating in and directing product & process Design Reviews, from concept to final design, relative to Platform & Product SW, Component/PCA, Subassembly and LRU assembly testability and core processes & technologies required
  • Ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting the appropriate methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ensure the quality of product produced via qualification/validation of manufacturing test processes in both NPI and Production lifecycle phases
  • Establish process yield & capability targets, PFMEA, data analysis, MSA (Gage R&R, Correlation, Cpk) requirements; MiniTab or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Test SW development utilizing multiple languages/platforms (C#, LabView, Python, database creation/management); includes SW revision control & release processes
  • Experience designing & integrating typical test equipment (Signal Generator, Network Analyzers, etc) into Test system
  • Experience training employees (Production, Repair and Engineering Dept) to test accurately product
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic—self-motivated and results-driven

Preferred skills, experience and talents

  • Experience working with a Quality Management System (QMS) such as AS9100 or ISO 9001
  • Experience using a Configuration Management tools such as Agile PLM
  • Experience using an ERP system such as SAP or Microsoft Navision to drive production processes

Compensation: $99,000 - $124,000

Target Annual Incentive: 10% of base compensation
