Engineering Manager, Security Operations

Job Description

CircleCI is hiring an Engineering Manager, Security Operations to lead and scale the Security Operations and oversee the Governance, Risk and Compliance function. This team engages with all areas of the company including engineering, legal, sales, product, and support.

You will participate in planning, project execution scheduling, hiring engineers to support security functions. This role reports to the Director of Security Engineering.

What You'll Do

• Ensure CircleCI maintains its FedRAMP, SOC 2, and PCAOB/SOX obligations with regular audits and evidence collection.
• Coordinate with IT, Engineering, Finance and other teams that rely on measured and predictable engineering controls for technical resources.
• Improve process as the team scales into its own and away from other security teams.
• Transition this four-person team away from its current IT/Ops function and toward DevSecOps.
• Work with the Governance, Risk and Compliance Manager to ensure predictable execution and identify when additional hires are warranted.
• Build out tools and processes that improve logging and intelligence around software delivery so engineers are able to move faster in a more secure manner.

• A good listener who can understand the current state of the team and work with existing engineers on where it needs to go.
• An opinionated vision of DevSecOps based on experience handling work from adjacent areas such as IT.
• Process oriented without bureaucracy.
• An ability to prioritize escalations against committed quarterly goals.
• Passion for mentoring junior engineers.
