As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will help design, build, and support the next generation of our demonstration framework across Splunk’s product portfolio. You will be working on core services and applications that form our demonstration environment.

Site Reliability Engineers in this role will be engaging with multiple service owners across the platform to manage cloud native infrastructure automation. You work closely with core stakeholders from the Market Strategy and Technical Sales organization as well as Product Management, Engineering, and Cloud Operations teams to maximise value demonstration efficiency of the MSTS organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work across the organization to deliver quality demonstration experience for internal customers
  • Embed with teams of tight-knit engineers who are building a state-of-the-art, cloud-based environment for massive-scale demonstrations.
  • Write cutting-edge backend code using Python and other scripting languages
  • Work with demonstration program manager to offer guidance and technical feasibility of internal customer requests
  • Act as a team technical liaison with other development teams (IT, Engineering, Cloud Ops, etc.) to improve Splunk demonstration framework over time while helping Splunk achieve its revenue goals and in product experience

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience installing, using and configuring a combination of Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, Splunk IT Service Intelligence, SignalFx Infrastructure Monitoring, SignalFx Microservices APM and/or VictorOps, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of observability libraries and ability to instrument code to expose new application metrics
  • Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, identifying anomalous system behavior, and resolving root cause of service issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with great attention to detail
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with Python, Golang, Gitlab CI, Qbec, OpenAPI/Swagger.
  • Experience with Kubernetes environments and understanding of multi-tenancy and security implications.
  • Experience working with container deployment and orchestration technologies with knowledge of fundamentals including service discovery, deployments, monitoring, scheduling, load balancing.
  • Experience with development and deployment in a hosted cloud environment, preferably AWS & GCP.
  • Experience with distributed cloud service development, infrastructure, traffic management and architecture.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
