Who You'll Work With

You will be based in one of our North America office as part of our Social, Healthcare and Public Entities practice.Specifically, you will be within the McKinsey Clinical Center of Excellence (CoE) which aim’s to deepen impact and rigor of our analytics and client service with clinical experience and intelligence. You will be working with McKinsey clinician leaders and client teams who are bringing solutions and capabilities for stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem.The Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) practice is one of 10 industry practices within the firm and has a mission of measurably improving individuals’ lives, livelihoods and health and creating safer and more just communities around the world. SHaPE serves governments, donors, healthcare payors/ providers and non-governmental organizations on topics including health, public finance, education, defense, economic development and beyond.We are dedicated to improving healthcare for the communities that our clients serve - this has long been part of our stated mission. What You'll Do

You will work as a strategic thought partner with our healthcare leadership to shape the long-term vision and strategy for the practice specifically in value based care.In this role, your primary focus will be on our healthcare clients and their impactful work across the globe. The solutions team brings healthcare data (payor/provider/3rd party data) and analytics to answer some of the most pressing questions our healthcare clients have today such as, “How do we manage cost of care while improving quality?”, What are the evolving models of care delivery (e.g. virtual, care at home, innovative primary care) and how can these be deployed?”, “How do we remain competitive in the evolving healthcare landscape?”, “Who are the most vulnerable patients and what interventions can we design to better care for them?”.You will help identify client needs that require clinical insight or expertise and translate them into business and operational priorities while ensuring the clinical integrity of the work that we do as a practice in both product and client service delivery. You will work with leaders at leading payors, providers and health services technology organizations in the public and private sectors to tackle today’s biggest healthcare challenges including improving quality of care and population health outcomes. You will help to lead the development and deployment of clinical assets that incorporate clinical intelligence and insight into the work we do with clients. Your experience and expertise will ensure our products, recommendations and implementations are of high quality and reflect clinical evidence, best practices and can impact quality metrics where needed.

Qualifications

  • MD degree and current licensure and board certification
  • 4+ years full-time clinical practice experience
  • Experience with population health quality metrics including STAR/HEDIS, healthcare outcomes, health plans and provider networks
  • Preferred experience running Value-Based Care programs, designing and deploying care pathways for at risk-bearing providers, building and deploying analytics to understand how to monitor performance of Value-Based Care programs and ensure highest value for patients and providers
  • Ability to counsel and influence senior clinical business leaders (e.g. CMOs)
  • Ability to lead the development and deployment of digital and analytic assets grounded in clinical insight
  • Experience with healthcare data (e.g. claims, EHR, outcomes data) and analytics methodologies
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a keen interest and drive in developing an economically viable professional entity that can grow in the market
  • Passionate about making healthcare better via technology
  • Eager to learn and use the McKinsey consulting approach
  • Good steward of resources with a track record of using resources effectively
