Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Waltham, Dallas or Atlanta office as part of McKinsey’s Global Client Capabilities Network (CCN). Colleagues in our global Client Capabilities Networkdeliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise and are driven by a culture of innovation.

You’ll work as part of McKinsey’s Global Economics Team serving the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) and consulting clients through our Strategy practice. The Global Economics Team has three areas of focus. We support MGI, McKinsey’s think tank, with economic capabilities as they produce client relevant insights. We support McKinsey’s partners when their clients require economic capabilities covering macroeconomics, labor markets, industrial growth, international trade, capital markets, public policy evaluation, etc. Finally, we conduct R&D to develop new tools and capabilities to bring the best of McKinsey to our clients.

What You'll Do

You’ll work with colleagues worldwide to bring advanced economic capabilities to our clients. In this role you will apply yourself to understand the complex macro and micro economic issues facing countries and leading companies. You will draw on your creativity, initiative, enthusiasm, research and analytical skills to deliver leading-edge strategic thinking in clear, well-structured communications.With increasing experience and exposure, you will develop into a true thought-partner for McKinsey’s partners and clients and will help advise world and industry leaders on relevant economic topics.

Qualifications

  • Advanced economics degree from a respected institution
  • 3-5 years of experience in economic analysis in academia, consulting, or gov’t/NGO. Education could substitute for experience
  • Exposure to CGE modelling; Exposure to the GEMPACK suite of programs is preferred
  • Experience with econometrics and statistical analysis as well as related software platforms desirable (e.g., R, Python, STATA, EViews, SPSS)
  • Experience using and manipulating datasets for analysis
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and basic business tools
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, quantitative, and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of economic, financial, and general business concepts and terminology
  • Familiarity with global and regional economic history, developments, trends, and disruptions
  • Highly inquisitive and creative individual who is excited about working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Self-starter and hard-working; able to manage time and anticipate bottlenecks
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to identify key patterns, trends, and/or inconsistencies when working with numbers
  • Strong people skills and the ability to coach, motivate and inspire colleagues
