Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with mobile application development or Android framework development.
  • Programming experience in Java and Kotlin.
  • Experience creating embedded UI (graphics/windowing SDKs, fonts, haptic interfaces, accessibility, internationalization and localization).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in API design, performance optimization, client architecture or tools in the mobile space.
  • Experience using Dependency Injection frameworks like Dagger or Hilt.
  • Knowledge of the Android SDK performance tools and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with core Android Jetpack architecture components.
  • Object oriented software development experience with understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Familiarity with Android UI design guidelines for wearables.

As an Android Embedded Software Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to work on different parts of the Android/WearOS System UI framework and to create Android/WearOS applications for our next generation wearables devices, dedicated to health & fitness who are building products that help transform people's lives. In this role, you will work on Android/WearOS applications, you’ll drive new innovations and build beautiful user experiences. You’ll work with mobile developers and resources to drive the next generation of apps at Google.

Fitbit’s diverse line of innovative products of smartwatches, trackers and smart scale help people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data, inspiration and guidance to reach their health and fitness goals. Our products deliver personalized experiences, insights and guidance through leading software and interactive tools to support our users’ health and wellness. Partnering with Google will expand our resources and global platform, and we will be able to accelerate innovation in the wearables category to scale faster, and make health even more accessible to everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
  • Manage specific project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and products.
  • Collaborate with our UI/UX designers and create user interfaces, taking into consideration accessibility and i8n capabilities
  • Build robust and scalable Android components using the latest tools in the Android ecosystem.
