Job Description
The International Developmental Licensee (IDL) Segment consists of over eighty markets across Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa. This geographically diverse segment presents varied structures, different time zones, volatile economies and unique customer trends and cultures.
With the segment complexity in mind, this position is responsible for supporting both the IDL Senior Vice President and Chief Alignment Officer to manage all segment communication efforts in a strategic, aligned and organized manner. The incumbent will report to the Chief Alignment Officer, and closely connect with the Business Unit Heads, Segment/BU Communication Leads and global function leads. This role works in close partnership to the Director, International Executive Communications and the Global Impact Team.
- Manage all Segment level internal communication efforts such as webcasts, results announcements, and Newsletter; develop related SVP scripts, videos, and recommend new messages and vehicles to engage key audiences in business priorities.
- Lead the creation of a proactive communications strategy for the SVP; thinking strategically to deliver a consistent, high-quality voice across varying audiences and channels including key executive communications materials, including video scripts, talking points, memos and presence across various existing and evolving mediums
- Align and coordinate with different stakeholders to provide strategic recommendations on communications in terms of framework, processes, approvals and sequence, acting as subject matter authority and gatekeeper on the flow of information to targeted audiences.
- Innovate and utilize various technologies and platforms to collate and share best practices to drive alignment within the IDL Segment and drawing on inspiration from all markets across the system
- Provide communication support to key Global / Segment events and initiatives, e.g.,
- World Wide Convention (Keynote speeches; DL Summit coordination and organization; IDL Segment Celebration Night)
- Values Activation and Change Management (leadership communications; reporting of market deployment and execution)
- Global Awards announcement (e.g., Golden Arch Award, Presidents’ Award, Circle of Excellence Award)
- Organize face-to-face and virtual Segment leadership calls/meetings (e.g., agenda, logistics and coordination with related BU’s and global functions), including a playing a leadership role in large-scale face to face events every other year.
- Coordinate Senior Leadership visits to markets ensuring seamless logistics and preparedness for related events, restaurant visits, speaking opportunities and all agenda details
- Yearly IDL Calendar preparation and follow up
- Phase 1 and Phase 2 planning coordination (annual planning process)
- Stakeholder engagement with BU and global function leads
Qualifications
- Deep communications expertise, always seeking to innovate and try new things to deepen engagement and impact of communications in all mediums.
- Able to clearly articulate a position and vision to partners internally and externally. Incuding managing and overseeing agency resources, as needed.
- Ability to build connections effectively across multiple time zones and cultures from a position of influence and collaboration rather than authority
- Very organized and capable of coordinating information and events across multiple markets with multiple partners
- Maintaining a pulse on trends, both in the foodservice industry and among leaders in business-critical areas (e.g., consumer and retail trends, technology, supply chain); use that insight to shape proactive recommendations.
- Fostering credibility and trust through a highly collaborative approach across multiple functions/teams, serving as a go-to resource internally to ensure alignment and accountability for relevant contribution to required communications.
- Is open, honest and direct but tactful and respectful in communications style and approach – internally and externally
- Genuine engagement with the McDonald’s brand and our Values.
- Superior written and verbal English communication skills is a must; with fluency in additional language(s) preferred
- Flexible and prepared to alter working hours to deal with working across multiple time zones and continents
- Proven experience in corporate internal communications or corporate relations, preferably in food/beverage or retail environment
- Able to quickly develop and sustain an in-depth understanding of the McDonald’s business model.
- Experience working cross-culturally and cross-functionally, and with multinational companies would be an asset
This role is based in Europe, ideally in Brussels or Vienna
