As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

The Corporate Investment Banking IT&V Testing team is responsible for the development and design of methodologies and standards for review activities across the Enterprise in alignment with the Risk Management Framework, and ensuring effective and appropriate testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk programs, risks, and controls according to standards and other applicable policies. This Officer role will report to a testing Director within the CIB T&V Team.

An Enterprise Testing Officer:

  • Leads and/or supervises moderate to high risk or complex review activities/engagements in a matrixed environment, and communicates emerging risks to management.
  • Completes review activities on schedule.
  • Raises schedule delays to the review activity lead with proposed resolution plans.
  • Creates schedules for reviews.
  • Escalates any potential issues discovered during the completion of review activities to a review lead.
  • Identifies potential corrective actions, and follows through on reporting, escalation, and resolution.
  • Performs effective and timely testing-related independent credible challenge internally.
  • Completes all documentation and appropriately retains all work papers (testing schedule, templates, work-papers, deferrals, deviations, etc.).
  • Solicits and aggregates emerging risks from teams as review activities are performed.
  • Leads implementation of initiatives with moderate to high risk. Internal collaboration with business for oversight of risk management.
  • Supervises testing staffed assigned to review activities.
  • May interface with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Critical Thinking and Analytical skills
  • Experience cultivating relationships and collaborating with business partners, legal, compliance
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines despite competing priorities
  • Audit or compliance related certification such as the CPA, CIA, CRCM, etc.
  • Knowledge of risk platforms used at Wells Fargo and experience with testing & monitoring activities
  • Experience in identification of risks and controls and testing controls
  • Knowledge/Skills/Ability Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • One or more of the following certifications is desired:
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
  • Certified Financial Crimes Specialist (CFCS)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
  • Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP)
  • Certified Risk Professional Program (CRP) For Testing and Validation Positions Only
  • Proven ability to discern risk and influence risk management practices, formulate and implement effective strategies, and centrally manage risks in collaboration support functions
  • Proven experience in building effective partnerships with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast paced, changing, and virtual environment;
  • Current or previous experience in Wells Fargo’s or another financial services organization’s first, second, or third lines of defense functions leading risk assessments, validation, or remediation activities and overseeing projects/work flows
  • Experience in multiple areas of operational risk management, including regulatory compliance and risks related to the consumer protection and general banking laws, as well as other federal, state and local regulations and laws

Salary Information

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
