Your Role and Responsibilities
Cloud Solutions Engineer designs, implements and deploys high availability solutions in the IBM cloud environment. Must be familiar with IBM cloud infrastructure including virtual machines, bare metal devices, storage, networking, VPC and user and security management and implementation. Must have an understanding of IBM Cloud capabilities including the Platform as a Services, Identity Access Management, Kubernetes, Redhat OpenShift, and security.

Responsibilities

• Bridge gap between applications development and IT operations by using DevOps concepts and tools for configuration management and automation
• Ability to adapt to the new software-driven technology with experience on virtual environments, software defined infrastructure, hyper-converged systems, container technologies, micro services, API strategies, software development and scripting.
• Drives Engineering and Operations Excellence
• Develop architecture technology roadmaps and drive adherence to industry best practices
• Drives IT capability improvements through optimization, enhancements and implementation of new features and functions
• Continuously Improves and Enhances Existing Environments
• Maintains proper hardware and software currency levels by implementing recommended upgrades
• Collects data, then supplies it to engineering peer teams for analysis and data-driven recommendations and decision making
• Deliver Infrastructure Solutions and Services
• Design standard patterned and custom IT solutions for business partner projects, including preproduction, testing, performance tuning, handoffs and environment validation.
• Develop automation tasks with software development, Terraform, Ansible, and scripting.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 2 years’ experience in application development
• Familiarity with high level programming languages such as Java/Python/C++/Ruby/Go
• Understand the technical and business advantage of public cloud, private and hybrid cloud, cloud applications, migration and integration, cloud security, and managing workloads and performance
• DevOps and Agile development
• bash scripting

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience in software and IT architectures
• AWS (Amazon Cloud)
• Azure
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Cloud native application development
• Terraform or Ansible or both
• Redhat OpenShift
