Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, Tampa or Waltham office. You will work with a small pod of data engineers that are responsible for the development and deployment of the people analytics and measurement team’s expanding cloud-based infrastructure. At McKinsey & Company, our most valuable resource is our people. As such, we have built a world class people analytics team dedicated to optimizing people management and facilitating data driven decision making for firm leadership including strategies to improve employee satisfaction, team structure, employee management, recruiting decisions and other high impact use cases.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for developing ETL and data ingestion pipelines between a variety of technologies including S3, Snowflake, NEO4J, and API gateways as well as development and maintenance of the team’s reporting data warehouse and analytics sandbox database.These services are ingrained in critical workflows across the firm. You will help us transform how our stakeholders go about their daily work by automating much of their less sophisticated tasks and allowing them to focus on more value added activities. Through development of templates and development patterns, you will help build reusable assets that can be leveraged by other colleagues.You will help us migrate processes from on-premise to the cloud in a thoughtful and strategic manner. You will also participate as a team member on people function initiatives to develop scalable and best in class technology solutions that will enrich our people data and analytical offerings at the firm.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a computer engineering discipline or similar field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience; AWS experience preferred
  • Fluency in SQL with knowledge of Python and R strongly preferred
  • Understanding of software development principles such as project architecture, version control (Git), test-driven development, etc.
  • Ability to work independently as a trusted member of project teams with diverse backgrounds and varying technical abilities
  • Technologically curious and open to new ways of working
  • Ability to describe data and analytic processes from start to finish in your area of expertise
