Toast’s People Team is growing! Working closely with People Team leadership, the People Team Project Manager contributes to our success through management of large projects, leadership on people aspects of potential M&A due diligence and integration, and facilitation of the People Team OKR and prioritization processes. This is a highly visible, impactful role involving collaboration across the company at all levels.
About this roll*:
- Provide program management leadership for complex high impact projects involving People Team initiatives. Responsibilities include creation of project plans, leading project team activities, tracking progress, identification and mitigation of risks, tracking and communication of project status, and issue resolution.
- Assess project needs and select/implement most appropriate methods (predictive, agile, hybrid) to optimize project execution, ensuring team members are fully enabled to utilize the selected approach, methods, tools, and techniques.
- Identify, scope and schedule project deliverables, resources, milestones and required activities and tasks. Establish how project status and milestones will be tracked and reported.
- Proactively act as project facilitator, collaborator, and influencer in order to remove obstacles, resolve issues and drive results.
- Establish strong relationships with all project stakeholders including team members and leadership. Resourcefully seek assistance, solicit diverse points of view, manage expectations, and diplomatically resolve conflicts to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Analyze project communication needs and determine communication methods, channels, frequency and how content will be developed, with a particular focus on effective change management.
- Serve as the People team liaison to potential M&A project activities. Lead and conduct People team due diligence and integration efforts. Create tools that support M&A best practices.
- Drive the People Team management routines, including agenda planning and tracking for People Team management meetings, People Team OKR development and tracking. Collaborate with People Team leadership to ensure OKRs are established, updated and key results are measured and reported.

Do you have the right ingredients* ? (Requirements)
- At least seven years of related project management experience, preferably within a People function.
- Practical experience applying project management methodologies (agile, etc.) and use of project management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse, cross-functional project teams to successful outcomes.
- Broad understanding of fundamental HR practice areas including employment, compensation, benefits, org design, HR operations and compliance.
- Outstanding change management skills and the ability to lead teams through change.
- The ability to organize and clearly present information to a wide variety of audiences including employees, managers and leadership.
- Action-orientation with the ability to multitask and manage through ambiguity.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in a related field a plus.
- Additional PMI/Agile/Scrum certifications such as PMI-ACP, CSM, CSPO, PSM a plus.
