Job Description

What is the opportunity?

You will support the Managing Director in his/her ability to achieve the broader business strategic priorities and operational performance. Joining one of the fastest growing divisions in RBC, you will be accountable for successful achievement of the agreed upon goals and objectives, driving a high level of performance, a superior client experience and sustainable value creation for RBC shareholders.

You will be responsible to manage a portfolio of existing accounts and acquire new clients. You will also be responsible for the performance of your portfolio including effective partnership with Corporate Client Group Finance (CCGF) on credit oversight, while ensuring overall alignment of CCG with shareholders, clients, and employee interests. Namely you will:

  • Provide ideas and advice that will achieve client’s shareholder value objectives focusing on the following: Capital structure, Banking services, Ownership monetization, Growth strategy (organic and acquisitions) and risk management.
  • Maximize RBC revenue/client with a particular focus on improving penetration of banking and capital market services.
  • Work closely with CCGF to ensure proper risk oversight.
  • Coordinate client coverage activity to ensure RBC specialists are appropriately engaged with client to provide solutions.
  • Lead deal teams to ensure effective execution.
  • Achieve client acquisition and market share targets.
  • Ensures each client has appropriate coverage at owner, CEO, CFO/Treasurer levels.

What will you do?

  • Originate new clients for Corporate Client Group (minimum $100K revenue/client threshold and/or $7.5MM EBITDA).
  • Develop a strategic understanding of company’s business model, market position and growth/divestiture plans. Develop a mutual understanding of client needs for creation, protection and realization of shareholder value. Be viewed as a trusted financial advisor.
  • Work closely with CCGF to ensure proper risk oversight.
  • Develop and implement robust strategies for each client and prospect, to meet identified needs, pitch ideas and maximize revenue and profit (ROE) opportunity.
  • Develop and implement, in consultation with RBC product partners, ideas and solutions to satisfy client needs and maximize revenue and profit goals/targets.
  • Ensure appropriate senior coverage with Managing Director
  • Create and deliver a superior/full customer experience to each client through careful pre-call research and planning, a ‘consulting’ approach, and regular client relationship reviews. Relationship reviews to be conducted at least annually for each client including a meeting with ownership/senior executive and incorporating a detailed relationship summary.
  • Monitor progress against client strategies regularly with partners and clients, evaluating success against revenue targets, and taking action as required.
  • Primarily responsible for monitoring RCM information for accuracy and communicating discrepancies.
  • Complete weekly/monthly sales and market reports

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Work experience in corporate or commercial lending/finance and/or risk management
  • Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
  • Strategic agility; can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately, has broad knowledge and perspective.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; confident, credible and personable
  • Judgment to determine which creative ideas will work and how they will work; knows how to make the appropriate fact-based business case; not afraid to take calculated risks.
  • Well developed influencing skills; able to demonstrate understanding and empathy while winning people over to a new way of seeing things

Nice to have:

  • Graduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields
  • CFA or other relevant professional designation
