This position
The Senior Cloud Engineer is driven to deliver secure, available, simple and scalable data systems for their users and customers. As a platform builder, an engineer in this role must meld technical tradeoffs with utmost user empathy. Data infrastructure crosses major domains of expertise, including elements of both cloud and data center computing, as well as elements of service and data development. A successful person in this role will have a flexible attitude combined with an aptitude to learn and share. This person enjoys working in a fast-paced agile environment, cares about their decisions, and is focused on quality driven development.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Engineering and is designated Flex.

Responsibilities
• Write high quality code that is easy to maintain and test
• Raise issues proactively that might impact delivery commitments
• Research new features and technologies
• Fix production issues and maintain the code as needed

Basic qualifications
• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years industry experience in Software Engineering
• Experience with C#, Java, C++, or Go
• Experience with SQL

Preferred qualifications
• Experience with infrastructure automation
• Experience with a cloud template engine, like Pulumi, Terraform, Cloud-formation or AWS CDK
• Strong knowledge of the Hadoop and Spark ecosystems
• Strong knowledge and experience in administering Data platform and tools especially in AWS e.g. EMR, Sagemaker, Apache Airflow, Kinesis, Tableau etc.
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated leadership in systems thinking, including at-scale approaches for fault tolerance and error handling
• Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool sets

Based on Colorado law, the following details are for Colorado individuals only: Colorado base salary range: $133,000 - $165,200 and eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
