What will you do?
We want every point of contact with our RBC clients to feel important to them. That’s where you come in. Design Pathfinders shape how we work together as a team to create each of our digital products. As trusted advisors, they work closely with Design Leads, stakeholders and designers to create the spaces where we can design and deliver exceptional experiences to our clients and RBC employees.
As a leader, you will work closely with a small number of teams to make our work effective and enjoyable. You will connect closely with other Design Pathfinders to help us advance and operationalize human-centered, research-driven, product design at RBC. Thriving in a fast paced and dynamic environment, you will lead multiple initiatives at a time.
What you will be doing:
• Partnering closely with Design Leads and Business stakeholders to uncover and unlock opportunities for improved effectiveness, efficiency, quality, and innovation
• Positioning the design practice as a trusted business partner that provides measurable business value and delivering on that promise
• Empowering teams to succeed with a shared vision
• Representing the Digital Product Design practice at a leadership level within cross-functional product teams and with critical senior and executive-level stakeholders
• Facilitating presentations, workshops and stakeholdering sessions
• Co-ordinating efforts across teams, removing the barriers to collaboration
What do you need to succeed?:
Must-have
• BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• At least 10 years of experience as a designer
• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience leading, coaching or mentoring groups of designers
• Experience working in an Agile delivery framework in a Scrum or Lean UX model
• Experience dealing with specific challenges of a matrixed enterprise environment
• Project management skills to plan and execute on project delivery
Nice to have
• MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field
• Industry experience with Financial Institutions
• Research experience
