Location: First Hill Surgery Center
Position Summary:
The Quality Coordinator will support surgical services in all areas of quality, safety, infection control, and performance improvement with primary emphasis on CMS guidelines as well as other applicable state and federal regulatory agencies. This position will have designated time and resources to provide support in the below areas and will include general responsibility for:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality (including quality assurance and performance improvement)
- General and project specific policy and procedure development
- QAPI plan development and implementation in conjunction with the FHSC leadership team
- Oversight and documentation of QAPI Studies to include audit activity
- Coordination tracking and reporting of Staff education and Training Tracking, investigation, and trending of reportable events
- Development of combined quality, safety, and infection control reports
- Assistance with patient satisfaction activity reporting as designated by the FHSC leadership team
Safety (including patient and employee health):
- General and project specific policy and procedure development
- Collaborates leadership on P & P development.
- Partner with clinical managers to assess and identify procedures and protocols for which organizational performance could be improved through education/training.
- Partners with Surgical services management for in house-wide educational initiatives, including those related to regulatory compliance such Washington State Department of Health, OSHA as well as community standards.
- In coordination with Polyclinic EHS department:
- Review, oversight, and general management of employee health and safety, files and immunization status,
- ADA Compliance and facilitation of appropriate education and training
- Oversite of Pharmaceutical waste compliance
- Disaster planning in consultation with the TPC disaster coordinator
- Ergonomics training and counselling
- MSDS Maintenance
- Hazard chemical planning
- Safety committee for FHSC
- Annual safety training
- Safety Manual maintenance
- Safety audit activity
- Tracking, investigation, trending, and reporting patient injuries
- Refrigerator management and tracking
- Partner with Polyclinic EH&S to conduct formal education for specific clinical equipment, techniques, use of PPE and clinic wide patient care, safety and clinic wide policies.
Infection control Function:
- Coordination with Infection Control Nurse
- COVID tracking
Policies & Procedures
- Collaborates with clinical managers to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with clinical managers to review and update policies and procedures on an annual basis or as needed.
- Communicate new or updated policies and procedures to managers, supervisors, staff, and other departments as necessary.
Requirements
EDUCATION
- High school diploma/GED
- Experience with infection control/prevention, EHS or quality required.
- Experience working in a surgery center preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
- Requires graduation from an accredited school of Nursing and a current Washington State License.
