Purpose Statement

The qualified individual for this defined term role shall maintain medical device products of moderate complexity. Under limited supervision and guidance, the individual, compiles, analyzes, and reports operational and test data to verify performance for modified products, processes and materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Use of design change process to ensure the proposed changes are systematically and thoroughly analyzed before beginning the change process. Whenever product changes are proposed, justification is written or data is collected to verify that the design intent is still met.
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing to reduce product costs and execute VIP projects through design improvements
• Maintain product performance through Quality Investigations and ensuring rigorous support for design changes
• Works independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines
• Designs and coordinates standard engineering tests and experiments
• Performs troubleshooting on products/process problems as related to design, material or process
• Summarizes, analyzes and draws conclusions from test results
• Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community
• Responsible for engineering documentation
• Invents/creates concepts and designs for new products/processes, and submits idea disclosures
• Works cross-functionally with project management, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical and marketing to ensure project success
• Support integration of newly acquired technologies into Boston Scientific
• Demonstrates design control knowledge through delivery of high-quality deliverables
• Designs, procures and fabricates tooling and fixtures

Requirements:

• Licenciature: Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electronic, Biomedical, Chemical Engineering
• Proven ability to work within a regulated industry environment and with a track record of accomplishments. Product development experience a plus.
• Self-Starter with the ability to work independently to plan, schedule and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines to schedule
• Fundamental understanding of the Quality System per ISO 13485 or 21 CFR 820
• 3-5 years related experience in the medical device industry
