Random House is seeking a Designer to join the Art Department. This position requires strong design skills, creativity, passion, and a love of books. The designer will create hardcover book jackets and paperback covers for a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction titles , and will collaborate with the editorial, managing editorial and production departments. This is an amazing opportunity to join an innovative art department and work with the renowned titles of Random House

The Role:

  • Design covers, jackets, and mechanicals
  • Work closely with supervising art directors, and editorial staff
  • Designing mechanicals, trafficking work, and preparing print ready digital files

The Essentials:

Strong design skills and computer/technical knowledge with an awareness of current design trends, capable of preparing presentation materials, maintaining high production standards, and keep to schedules and budgets

  • Proficient knowledge of the MAC platform and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Good communcation skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Timely follow-up skills with the design team and other departments and able to organize and review multiple projects in a fast-paced and details-focused environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Avid readers and book lovers are a plus, but not a requirement
